What the hell is Tori wearing? Look at it. I get that it was the '90s, but even '90s fashion didn't look like that. Looks like she trying to audition for a live action Thundercats movie LOL!!

She's said before that it was supposed to look like body paint, because she'd done a few photoshoots like that before, but it came out looking really bad, and she didn't realise how bad until she saw The Rock do a double take walking past.

What the hell is Tori wearing? Look at it. I get that it was the '90s, but even '90s fashion didn't look like that. Pretty much that entire match I was saying to myself "Don't come through to the living room right now, mum". Thankfully she didn't. I was 12 at the time. Parents never showed up during a 5 star clinical ringwork classic, it was always whenever Trish Stratus was twerking on a table or something like that! One time Mum did appear when The Godfather was in the ring, and she innocently asked why the crowd were chanting "In The Navy". "It's "pimpin' ain't easy"!" said my then 8 year old sister. Mum went "right" and just walked straight out of the room! I didn't too much care for Lita's character, but I can't deny that her craft was on point. Besides being influential in the ring, she had also given a breath of fresh air to the Women's division that was much needed. Trish, at first, wasn't that great of a wrestler. I believe her turning point was her matches against Stephanie leading up to No Way Out 2001. During that, Trish began to hone her craft, IMHO. So yeah, to me, it's not a mystery on why these women were able to both change the Women's division very rapidly, along with Jackie and Ivory. Trish/Stephanie is an insanely good match for at the time 2 non-trained wrestlers. By the time she was Womens Champion later that year you could tell she'd put a lot of effort into training and learning. The anti-Sable, if you will. Speaking on the Stephanie vs. Trish match, I'm sure by now you all know that that storyline was one of my favorite rivalries. I agree 100% with you that Trish was the anti-Sable. She could have just said screw it and coasted due to her looks, but she was actively engaged. Wasn't she a fitness model before joining the WWF?

I think so, she also did some radio or TV before iirc because when she was signed they made it a big deal with newspaper announcements, and they promoted her TV debut in advance, so she was clearly someone they expected some of the audience to know. Not teenage me in Scotland, mind you!

I don't think Tori's outfit is as bad as people make out, but she should have made it skimpier to fit the era. The whole polo neck thing was a bit over kill

I completely forgot about this storyline until I watched Wrestling with Wregret this week. The problem I found was the build for this match. Sable had just turned heel. The fame, especially with the Playboy cover, got to her head. If Sable was supposed to be a despised, self-absorbed conceited heel, she needed a sympathetic babyface to work with for the fans to rally behind. Instead, Tori came across as a creepy stalker fan who followed Sable from town to town. Did anybody care to see Sable lose to Tori? Were there any redeeming qualities of Tori?

I wonder who could have played a babyface during that period. From a storyline perspective, Im not sure who could have played a babyface, guess we have to thank Russo for making all the women awful people to get behind

It was supposed to be Luna vs Sable at Wrestlemania with Luna doing it for the "average woman" - but the way it was going before Luna got suspended was, it wasnt getting over, because Luna was already playing heel to Sable's babyface and they switched roles out of no where. I would have done Sable vs Debra in a gimmick match, Debra was clearly getting over and was still the heel at this point, Sable should have stayed face until after Wrestlemania and turned afterwards. You get a T&A match on the show, Debra gets stripped (which is what she had been teasing alot around this time) - lets face it, it wasnt about the wrestling at this point for the divas.
Sable vs Debra was the "money" match at this point IMO.
