What a wet fart of an ending.
Oh well, it's over, moving on.
2023 Pirates - Shooting for 99 losses! Pretty sure they'll trade away Hayes, Cruz, Reynolds, and anyone with any semblance of ability to save another twenty bucks, but at least there's zero expectations!

Dusty was kind of a joke for years as far as pulling defeat from the jaws of victory, but it was nice to see him finally win one after nearly 30 years.
Sorry Bryce...maybe next year.

F***ing gutted. Glad we made it after such a turbulent year, but I hope this is a sign of what's to come and not something we don't see for another decade
The team still needs work. Some pen tweaks, and back end pitching. Rodon and deGrom if he is leaving need to be top priority in the offseason, I feel like you gotta get one of them and now you have a world series appearance to sell them and any other name, that's important
I also hate to say it but Rhys Hoskins I feel just has to go... trade him for something, but the dude was a complete hindrance the entire world series on both ends of the ball, and his inconsistence drives me absolutely crazy. Segura might also be gone, if they are aiming to get Trea Turner, and it sounds like they are
I hate the Astros, f*** those cheating bastards, but I'm happy we made a world series and had a better season than the Braves, Mets, Dodgers, and Yankees. Onto the next with great expectations now. Let's see how long it is before I'm miserable again... well after the misery from losing this wears off anyway...

Happy for Dusty but other than that I was rooting for the Phillies so that was not the ending I was hoping for. Oh well. Off season should be fun at least.

Mets closing in on extension with Edwin Diaz They gave him a lot. He is the first reliever to hit $100M 5/$102M. Full no trade clause with an option for sixth year. Also has an opt out

Skip Schumaker gets a promotion and leaves being Cardinals bench coach….and Matt Holliday comes on board as new bench coach.
It’s the “2011 Cardinals Champion Memorial” Bench Coach position.

Wow, good for Diaz for getting that contract, but not sure that’s the best deal for the Mets. Relievers, even the elite ones, are volatile. Even Diaz himself has shown that. I guess Cohen doesn’t care about money so as long as they can still improve the team in other areas then it might be a risk worth taking. Still very risky deal.

Puts what guys like Rivera and Hoffman were able to do into perspective.

Xander Bogaerts opted out of his contract, and he's not a free agent. Meaning the 2023 Boston Red Sox have five players under contract (Trevor Story, Chris Sale, Enrique Hernandez, Matt Barnes, Garrett Whitlock) for 2023. Every other player is either arbitration eligible, pre-arbitration, or has an option.
It cannot be overstated how enormous this coming off-season is for the Red Sox, in particular for Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom. He has payroll flexibility (they're only committed to an estimated $99 million in 2023), and they have massive holes to fill across the 26-man roster. Bloom needs to have a successful off-season, or it will likely be his final off-season with the Red Sox.
