No one like my idea of a Home Run Derby for extra innings.
I mean a real Home Run Derby, with like the little kids in the outfield trying (and failing) to catch fly balls and everything.

The Reds and A's have dutifully decided to blow it up before their seasons start, semi-competitive teams last year with promise, looking like a fire sale to focus on the future heading into a new era.
Mariners however, want to compete, getting someone like Winker from the Reds like that

so the start of the Cubs season.... Alzolay, Happ and Bote will be on the IL
great start....we need to sign somebody quick!!! I also am not thrilled about Contreas already saying he is going to test out free agency. Its so nuts to me that if somebody told me in 2016 that the Cubs will let Javy Baez, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Jon Lester, Kyle Schwarber, and Dexter Fowler go I would have called you crazy....here we are now.

I like the runner on 2nd for extra innings So do the players, which is why they are working on bringing it back. It's a gimmicky rule but I think it's necessary, and less gimmicky than a shootout (or home run derby in this case). Regular 9 inning games take 4.5 hours to finish. At least end the regular season games as quickly as possible. Once the playoffs start then you can go back to regular rules.

It’s not a bad rule People can disagree but I will forever stand on that it is not exciting to watch players swing for the fences an extra 2-3 innings. At least with this, it is exciting and adds strategy. It’s a regular season rule and shouldn’t be used in the playoffs. If your team can’t win in 9 innings and lose in extras, tough shit. Everyone will get cheated and have things turn in their favor equally threw the season

The Reds and A's have dutifully decided to blow it up before their seasons start, semi-competitive teams last year with promise, looking like a fire sale to focus on the future heading into a new era. Mariners however, want to compete, getting someone like Winker from the Reds like that Winker is great, especially since Fraley is one of the guys going to Cinci (I like him, hope he gets his footing there) and it's a clear "we're competing now" move. Now another starter, a catcher and maybe a bullben arm or two and I'd say we're good to go. Taking Suarez's contract is a bit eh, but I guess that's what was enticing to the Reds and hopefully he can bounce back to his 2016-18 performance, even with all them strikeouts.

They won’t get their marathon games but will get one more inning to end it with a homer.

But give the teams a couple of innings to score a run legitly. Hockey at least gives you a 5 minute overtime before they go to a shot out.

I don't follow the Cubs at all, so could someone let me know why the budding dynasty of a few years ago got blown up?

Resources was tapped in the minors and the main core group were all coming up on contract years But I thought the Cubs had money? None of the players wanted to sign deals the team was pitching and basically with the way the team was looking they weren't going to compete anyway even if they signed all of them They needed a reset after years of tapping their prospect resources

I only hated the ghost runner for the 10th inning. Basically, allow for a legit "overtime" inning with the 10th and maybe 11th innings, then put in the ghost runner for the 12th on.

I've said it time and time again i'd rather watch 500 1-1 18 inning baseball games than 1 baseball game that ends in the 10th inning because of a crapshoot

Anyway...... Suzuki has a few teams that are very interested and he has been listening to pitches. Padres, Dodgers, Red Sox, Giants, Mariners, and Cubs to name a few
