As we all know, Nintendo and Sony were working on a SNES add-on, but Nintendo made a deal with Phillips, and that led to the PlayStation.
I hear about how Nintendo betrayed Sony, but why is Nintendo in the wrong? Sony was going to get all the profits for the games. It's not like Sony was completely innocent. I'm tired of people making the birth of the Playstation seem like the big bully Nintendo screwed over the helpless victim Sony, when Sony was the bigger company at the time.

It was such a popular thread the first time, we had to do it again.

But... how does Eugene feel about the Nintendo Playstation fiasco of 2016 Alexa Bliss humiliating JR?

Ultimately Nintendo got buyer's remorse about the contract they entered into with Sony and reneged on it without informing Sony. That's not a particularly defensible act, and doubly so when Japanese culture really frowns upon companies breaking contracts with native partners in favour of foreign competitors (Philips, who Nintendo partnered up with, are Dutch).
Had Nintendo attempted to renegotiate terms with Sony and bowed out of the deal if a compromise couldn't be reached, there wouldn't have been any controversy. Instead they waited for Sony to publicly announce they were in a partnership with Nintendo before announcing themselves "LOL, not really, we're working with Philips, now."

Ultimately, pretty much everyone (well, other than Phillips, possibly) ended up better off than if the deal had happened, but it's not like Nintendo knew that. It was just Nintendo being arrogant and more than a little self-centered at the time.

When someone says that they wish the Nintendo Playstation had been finished, they're basically saying that Nintendo should have gone with the terrible contract Sony gave them.

When someone says that they wish the Nintendo Playstation had been finished has anyone ever actually said this?
