Guess that semi-confirms that the 200th wasn't the finale.

Guess that semi-confirms that the 200th wasn't the finale, even if this one's just an old unused episode. It's a mash up of the unreleased...and a new look from now.

Felt like a classic Nerd episode. This was a good one.

Legitimately one of the better ones in a very long time.

I'd heard from a recent video about him that James was wanting to get back to basics, to a degree, and change his approach that had gotten to be kind of, well, assembly line-esque. Looks like that may be the case.

It also feel like he got Mike to help him with this instead of Screenwave which seem like the biggest complaint that people had with the newer episode.

No spoilers but I laughed hard as hell at the ending
Overall this seemed like a "Classic AVGN" era episode

Huh, I had this for the C64. Did you have problems getting the key too?

I mainly played the second one as the controls were a bit better, I recall having a lot of problems with jumping. And the frame rate was a lot slower than on the NES.

Guess that semi-confirms that the 200th wasn't the finale. In the first 9 seconds he announces the new season. I say it totally confirms it.

I did see mikes name at the end credits Wouldn't surprise me. At the end of a stream in the past month where Mike beat Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom for NES, Mike played some other NES games including The Last Ninja. Let's just say he was not completely enamored with the latter one so it would make sense if Mike put the thought into James's ear of doing The Last Ninja for AVGN. That being said, it was also nice seeing a Mike Matei AVGN episode title card drawing again. Those were some of the highlights of the first 100 AVGN episodes for me.

Huh, I had this for the C64. It would be a proper C64 video if it had 30 minutes of intro. Datasette was awful.

Finally watched the episode and, yeah, I join in the general consensus that this feels like a Back To The Roots type episode that was very fun.
Also either I have gotten used to the current Nerd look or his "old" look for the first part was off somehow...but I couldn't help but feel that he looked uncanny in the "old" footage.

Felt like a classic Nerd episode. This was a good one. Yeah, I've been hard on the Nerd for a lot of the screenwave and recent stuff, but this is a better one. I do give him credit that he's reduced the presence of screenwave on the channel and seems to be listening to complaints. I just think it's I've never been a fan of his humor, but I do respect his role in the history of youtube.
