 This is the Ethiopian Wolf, there are only a few hundred of them left. People love big cat conservation, and that's admirable, but have no idea how much closer many wild canines are to the brink of extinction. |

Cryptozoology is a pseudoscience that believes in the existence of undiscovered beasts (Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot ect) and most cryptozoologist societies and organizations have the Okapi as their mascot or logo. Because of its very small range (a small area in The Congo) the animal was unknown outside of Africa until the 20th century. Europeans had heard tales from African villages about this animal and the myth of an African Unicorn spread but when they tried asking urban Africans about it, "its an antelope but it has a zebras arse," they found that city dwellers had no idea what they were talking about. For many years skulls and bits of hides were all zoologists had to go on. It's surely impossible that a similar sized mammal is still out there still unknown to the west. The Okapi is probably the last one (tons of sealife yet to be discovered though).  |

So here we have an interesting animal known as Atretochoana Eiselti (your pronunciation is as good as mine  ) Also known as...um...the Penis Snake because...well you can probably see why. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}  It is actually a type of amphibian and not a snake. Also not actually a penis. Caecilians are fascinating, but hard to study as they live underground in places humans generally don't. Taita Hills caecilians feed their young by letting them eat their skin, which is gross, yet amazing. |
