It's been recently discovered that Nickelodeon almost got the rights to air The New Scooby Doo Movies in the early 90s, around the same time they got the rights to air Yogi Bear. But Turner getting the Hanna-Barbera library and the launch of Cartoon Network led to those plans being nixed.
There was an intro made, and my god is it just so obnoxiously amazing.

Maaaan, that’d been almost as surreal as Looney Tunes being on Nick if that happened.
And just for The New Scooby Doo Movies? That seemed super random. Sort of like if you got The Flintstones and it was just the Pebbles and Bam Bam spinoff.

Sort of like if you got The Flintstones and it was just the Pebbles and Bam Bam spinoff. Guessing it was the easiest license to acquire. That and it would have likely been slotted in as part of Special Delivery.

Essentially what Muppet Matinee was for the network.

Oh yeah, but it’d also be the weirdest thing. I could see an argument where you could slot it with an Inspector Gadget or something, two big drawing shows to still flex some of that Double Dare cash.

A straight up Inspector Gadget/Scooby-Doo crossover sounds like something that should've happened but didn't.

Other than Pinky and the Brain, did Nickelodeon ever do a specialized intro for any other shows they acquired?

We could have got Kennan and Kel as Fred, and Shaggy.

A Scooby Doo/Clarissa crossover would have been something glorious.

Not that I was avid watcher, but where did it air? I saw Scooby-Doo as a kid, so where? It aired in syndication mon-fri all over from at least 74 until mid to late 80s. For a long time I could watch Scooby Doo at 3pm Mon-Fri on Channel 15,then Saturdays new episodes aired on ABC. And Sundays it was syndicated on some channel.

I haven't seen these in 30 years and watching them with fresh eyes I have to begrudgingly admire Nickelodeon's approach to branding being one of unrelenting submission.

I know I am not imagining this. I recall that Nickelodeon had the license for some other Hanna-Barbera shows. I know that I am not making this up that when Nick would do their "we'll be right back" and also "and now back to our show" bits that footage of Yogi Bear, along with Scare Bear and Quack-Up was shown. Not sure if Nick had the rights to Yogi's Space Race at the time, but I know I had seen some episodes. It might have been Nick. The only other possibility was TBS or TNT as they aired Hanna-Barbera cartoons before Cartoon Network's inception.
