WWE Hall of Fame class 2022…underwhelming???

I know last year we had both the 2020 and 2021 class combined and I know that we are still dealing with Covid and I know that Taker is headlining the class but here we are with two weeks to go until Mania and only three inductees so far. Seems pretty underwhelming.

I don't know that I agree. Taker's one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling. I think his speech is worth the price of admission alone and I still think he probably should get a standalone induction.

I suspect this week we'll get a few more announcements given there were rumors of Sid and The Steiners also joining the class.

Undertaker more or less deserves his own class, that dude is like THE legend in this industry, even if no one else is announced, I’d watch just for him anyways. Iam sure he has PLENTY to say

As the Hall of Fame ceremony is happening after a Smackdown and they're running out of people, my hunch is that they're purposely keeping it small this year. Someone like the Undertaker is worth about four inductions on his own though.

But yeah, Taker alone makes this a great class. Nothing is going to approach, much less overshadow that, so might as well make it smaller and have him be the far-and-away headliner.

It's strange that they haven't announced anyone else yet. Normally they announce a new name every week from like January-March. Sid, the Steiners and Shad Gaspard for the Warrior award have all been heavily rumored but would they really wait until the final week and announce all three at the same time now?

Maybe it's just a timing issue. With the Hall of Fame being scheduled for after a Smackdown taping it'll be a long night if you have 7-8 speeches after that. For years I've thought they should cut it down to 3-4 inductees per year both to make it more exclusive and to make sure everyone gets proper time and isn't rushed.

I think it's only underwhelming in the sense that Undertaker isn't getting a solo induction.

I think people like Sid or Vader could have waited until another year.

I think it feels that way for me because Taker should feel like a bigger deal and just doesn't to me. I think it's a combo of some of his personal conduct lately and his retirement ceremony in front of nobody two years ago just felt so hollow.

Yup all of these people are saying Taker should go in by himself and here I am amused as hell he might be inducted in a WCW heavy class. Dude is a legend but he was a total asshole during the Invasion.

It also likely, as others have mentioned, that it's not its own thing but a part of the Smackdown tapings so it isn't really as much of a priority to have induction announcements as consistently. Like, you're not really selling tickets to the HOF in the same way, outside of possibly the Taker speech, since you're already going to Smackdown for the go-home 'Mania show.

Because they've decided to only use like a quarter of their ass now on HOF inductions, Taker goes in as less than. You can make the case for 4 guys going in alone, Andre, Hogan, Stone Cold and Taker.
