Someone mentioned this during the Smackdown thread.
Is this how you personally feel as well?

Ehhh
I mean WWE has sort of consistently over the last few years been in a pattern of the show coming up without a ton of fanfare especially without Legends like Taker around now. And that's not to say just with Mania but a majority of their PPVs just come up on you and be like oh yeah that is happening

The trick for me is usually when I start seeing the stage being built. If that doesn’t do anything for me, then nothing will.

It doesn't for me, I wish it did But really as WWE focuses on content creation only they take away more and more things, and when guys retire, leave, or get fired, WWE hasn't been replacing them with anything. So stuff like feuds starting in the middle of the Rumble match, megastars challenging each other around February, big feuds, etc. all that stuff isn't as much of a focus anymore, and it makes the big event feel less...er, stupendous, than it should.

I have absolutely no intention of watching a show headlined by Reigns / Lesnar (and the rest of the card looks terrible too) so doesn't really matter to me I guess, though maybe I'll still eat a Snickers for the occasion like I've done in recent years, I dunno.

It just feels like there's too much going on at a very low level to care about the one or two matches with a strong build. Like I'm sure they'll probably be good shows. But the build just feels very meh and slow for the most part. No real spark to it. It also doesn't help that a lot of the feuds feel like they'll end at Mania. I'm not wondering what's next or where this could lead to.

I think part of it is also them combining shows on the same day. With Smackdown and HOF in the same night and then NXT Stand and Deliver with Mania night 1. I'm used to them spreading them apart throughout the week

The IC and US titles buried definitely does not make it feel like a Wrestlemania.

Oddly enough, I figured that feuds not ending at WrestleMania was one of the bigger issues many had with modern WMs. Like most things, it's a balance. Some feuds should continue and others shouldn't but this Mania feels structured such that a ton of matches are with guys who almost certainly are not going to be there in any form wrestling on a consistent basis afterwards (Knoxville, McAfee, Logan Paul, and to a lesser extent Ronda, Brock, and Edge who will likely keep wrestling but on a part time basis).

There’s too many part timers, special attractions, celebs. There’s not much to build to. Everyone just seems spinning their wheels. The show just looks so underwhelming.
There’s a enough there could it be a good show? Sure.
Do I care enough to watch it? Ehh.. Maybe.

I'm not saying you're wrong, because I'm really not feeling this show this year, but honestly I've heard the "it doesn't feel like WrestleMania season this year" for just about every WrestleMania the last twenty years.

Sami vs. Knoxville is the only match I'm really intrigued by, which isn't something I thought I'd be saying a couple months ago. I think this WM has had the worst build of any WM in a long time.

I’ll just say if this was strictly on PPV, I wouldn’t be ordering. At least with the ‘Cock, I can watch while getting ready to do more interesting things like dinner or going to Best Buy to browse the CD section, or sitting in traffic.

It feels like every Wrestlemania in the last 8 years has been "the worst build to Wrestlemania ever".

I have as much excitement for it as WWE seem to have going by their shows, which is to say "feck all".

i think they need to leave off the PPV before mania so mania gets a full two months to build anticipation for it. as it works right now it just seems like another PPV but with more pointing at signs and two days of matches.

Wrestling in general just kind of feels “off” as a whole for me right now. Some stuff that’s good, but not great. And nothing that’s really “grabbed me by the balls” in quite some time.
