If I’m Conrad Thompson I’m not touching Flair with a 100” pole as far as working together I mean, he's already done a podcast with him once and it was awful. As soon as he convinced Bruce to do a podcast, he was done with Ric. I always thought it was fine because Flair really didn't want to do a podcast based on his complete indifference on the show. That's one of the many sad things about Flair. He clearly had no interest and hated doing the podcast years ago so he stopped it. He only started doing one again after WWE let him go and AEW didn't bring him in so he realized he needed a way to keep his name in the spotlight.

I wonder how many times a day Conrad buries his face in his hands and wonders what he married into? Probably is glad he married into the side of the family(David and Meghan) that don’t seem liable to do crazy shit. There was an article from years ago where it went into the financial affairs of ric and his second wife Beth and Jesus h Christ it was insane. Yeah this one grantland.com/features/the-wrestler-real-life/And after it came out Madden was defending Flair.

At this point who would want to be associated with Flair?

I'm Team Madden on this. Look, I love what Flair did in the ring... but he continues to show he is a miserable human being outside the ring. Madden isn't perfect, but when compared to Flair, he's a Prince.

It takes a lot for me to look at two sides of a situation and end up on the same side as Mark Madden, but here we are.
Stop destroying whatever is left of your legacy, Ric.

There was a time when I thought Ric Flair was the sh**.
But Mark Madden, he's always been, and still is sh**.

"You are the greatest wrestler ever."
But you're not talking to Bret Hart, Mark.

I read this thread title and immediately assumed Ric was the one in the wrong

There, it’s possible to unearth the gory specifics of a lifetime: how he passed out after attacking his son Reid in a fit of anger after the boy broke his drunken mother’s arm by pushing her out of an elevator; Good f***ing gracious.

Madden and Flair having a falling out and ending the podcast feels like the freespace on absolutely everyone's 2022 Bingo Card. Flair having a podcast with Mark's brothers Benji and Joel would have been much better.

Mark spilling the tea on TK ghosting him was certainly interesting. Makes me wonder if TK had intended on getting all four of the "classic" horsemen under the AEW banner

He doesn't actually say they wanted him, he said Ric was planning to work at AEW. Flair could well have just assumed there was a job waiting because he's the Nature boy and people who used to be his friends work there.

Isn't it funny the way Ric Flair us a guy who has many close friends, who always seem to stop being friends with him soon after entering a business relationship? He just can't stop himself doing stuff like this, Madden wanted to just walk away without badmouthing him but Flair just couldn't stop himself flipping open the dumpster and tossing in a match. I bet the PodcastOne story will be more tales of Flair being flair. He and Conrad deserve one another. I mean the fact that Arn said like a year or so ago, that he and Ric don't talk anymore. The fact Ric said he doesn't hear from HHH. I'm seeing the pattern. Wow, even Trips has stopped talking to Natch. That says a lot and pretty much tells you everything you need to know. If there was only one person in the world close to Flair I would've thought it would be HHH.

From the second that his retirement ceremony on Raw ended on March 31st, 2008 onward, Flair has done an absolutely breathtaking job of sinking not only his legacy, but any shred of credibility he has both personally and professionally.

Flair could well have just assumed there was a job waiting because he's the Nature boy and people who used to be his friends work there. I think there was a genuine interest from Tony to sign Ric at first (if I recall they even teased it) but then the Dark Side of the Ring episode happened and every wrestling company decided (rightly) not to touch Ric with a 50 foot pole.

Even before DSOTR, I wouldn't touch the guy. He's been a sad shell of himself, and he physically looks like he died 5 years ago and nobody has gotten around to telling him

So honest opinions. I dont know what kind of deal Flair had with WWE. But did he think AEW was actually going to pay him more money or was he just angling to find an even richer money mark to milk for loans, etc?

I'm not so sure, there were zero reputable sites claiming he was about to sign and no murmuring from Tony the way we've seen with others. Only talk I heard was about how bad DSOTR would make him look well before it aired, and fans acting like it was a done deal because they had other former horsemen, forgetting none of whom are exactly on speaking terms with him. Tony has Jericho in his ear, who was in WWE at the time and actually worked on the show, I doubt he was ignorant of what was coming for Flair. I've no doubt Flair hoped he would be, given the trail of marks he's conned over the years.
