Madden and Flair having a falling out and ending the podcast feels like the freespace on absolutely everyone's 2022 Bingo Card. Flair having a podcast with Mark's brothers Benji and Joel would have been much better. ... Is he actually related to the guys from Good Charlotte or is this a joke? It's a joke.

From the second that his retirement ceremony on Raw ended on March 31st, 2008 onward, Flair has done an absolutely breathtaking job of sinking not only his legacy, but any shred of credibility he has both personally and professionally. I think he had his moments in TNA where he was pretty entertaining but it has been pretty sad after that.

Is there any friendship or relationship he hasn't destroyed yet? Years ago he was praising Mark Madden and trash talking Keith Elliott Greenberg, who originally did work on his autobiography and now trash talking Mark. Conrad better hope there's never a guy who has just a bit more connections or money, if he wants to keep Flair around.
The man is impervious to death so I imagine he'll go another 20 years. If he's in any kind of nursing care then I feel sorry for whoever has to take care of him. They'll be insults, they'll be physical sexual assaults and he'll keep on getting away with it.

If he had stayed retired that whole time and been gracious the whole time he still would be a pervert, and it would still come out eventually. All Flair did was erode his legacy quicker rather than maintaining it for long enough to watch it get destroyed later instead.

If I’m Conrad Thompson I’m not touching Flair with a 100” pole as far as working together What an unusual length of pole to not touch him with.

Flair has been burning bridges for at least 15 years, how does he keep convincing people to trust him enough to think "this time, he wont pull his usual shit... and I'll be the one person he doesn't burn"
unless it's a massive secret game of chicken between everyone in the wrestling sphere, see how long you can be in business with Flair before he f***s it all up or f***s you over.
it just confuses me how he seems to get so many new chances with people to do this time and time again.

This "Ric Flair will slander who isn't paying him" meme is just a forgone conclusion at this point eh?

It's so f***ing sad to see how Flair has completely tarnished his legacy. In a perfect world, he goes away and lives a quiet life after that WWE sendoff.

He's been doing it far longer than that, only these days he can't use being a source for Meltzer to make sure his side of a story is the one accepted as gospel. Thanks to social media, people can see him being awful in real time.

I think there was a genuine interest from Tony to sign Ric at first (if I recall they even teased it) but then the Dark Side of the Ring episode happened and every wrestling company decided (rightly) not to touch Ric with a 50 foot pole. I'm not so sure, there were zero reputable sites claiming he was about to sign and no murmuring from Tony the way we've seen with others. Only talk I heard was about how bad DSOTR would make him look well before it aired, and fans acting like it was a done deal because they had other former horsemen, forgetting none of whom are exactly on speaking terms with him. Tony has Jericho in his ear, who was in WWE at the time and actually worked on the show, I doubt he was ignorant of what was coming for Flair. I've no doubt Flair hoped he would be, given the trail of marks he's conned over the years. I think it was more to do with the way Andrade's story was going at the time. He swapped Vicki for Chavo as his manager and had just dumped Chavo before the DSOTR episode aired. Andrade said he wanted his entire family in AEW with him and he had the title match against Omega in AAA around that time too, Flair was in his corner for that and interacted with Kenny. IIRC, Flair was also saying very positive things about AEW and some of its wrestlers in tweets/interviews. So, although AEW didn't drop the heavy hints as they did with Punk (or even the subtle hints like they're doing with Bret), enough pieces were being put into place to make it seem like it was going to happen. There was a multi-page thread in the AEW section all about Flair coming to AEW because it seemed to be going that way. But yes, thankfully it never happened, regardless of how likely it was/wasn't.

It's so f***ing sad to see how Flair has completely tarnished his legacy. In a perfect world, he goes away and lives a quiet life after that WWE sendoff. I seem to remember news at the time that he never wanted to retire and WWE basically pressured him to do the storyline as they had no interest in him wrestling anymore. So really he felt no obligation as he never considered himself retired. Edit. But the real shitty thing about entertainment in general and wrestling in specific is that if Flair had retired and gone away except for HOF and random appearances then he would be forgiven. If he wasnt an embarrassing trainwreck then when things came out like the plane ride people would make excuses or forgive him. Same thing with Hogans racism if he hadnt spent years with crap like Hogan Knows Best, his childrens BS, and the sex tape.

Even then, it wouldn't constantly get brought up over and over again, because he wouldn't be constantly trying to finagle another payday when it's been generally agreed upon that he should not be able to make money off of the business ever again.

If they were alive, I wonder what Flair's adoptive parents would be thinking/saying. They didn't even like him being a wrestler, I'm sure they would be embarrassed about how he lives. His last 25 years alone is a potential FULL season of Dark Side.

Flair was a big part of my wrestling fandom, but he has just continuously destroyed his legacy. It is really sad to see, but he has brought all this on himself.

It’s really fricken sad what’s happened to Ric. I know Conrad seems like he runs an empire but maybe he’ll be able to help set Ric straight. Who knows. I also wonder what the hell “national hero” bit Madden’s alluding to with Flair.
