Very good number and beat Smackdown last week in 18-49 (which was hurt a lot by NCAA Basketball). Next week will be really interesting. Post-Mania RAW almost always gets a bump but it will also be up against the NCAA Men's Championship game and if Duke makes it to the final, having Coach K's last game being for the title will be a huge sporting event.

Yeah I would expect a slight decrease due to the basketball game. Last year, it was the go-home show that went head to head with the NCAA finals and it was around 1.7 million with a 0.52 demo.

This year also might be a different beast since both RAW and the NCAA Tournament have fans. I know from watching March Madness and the data itself that this year is much more interesting and watchable with this atmosphere. And for the post-Mania RAW, the crowd reactions are part of the package.

Fox and USA would probably put a stop to it but ending the brand split may be good for ratings. Last night you had a “star” in every quarter thanks to being able to use more of the overall roster, including Smackdown. It’s not rocket science but if you put popular people all over the show you’ll probably do better. You had a Lesnar segment. A Roman segment. Rollins. Owens. Sasha. Becky/Bianca. Edge/Styles. Mysterio/Miz. McIntyre. Lashley. RK-Bro. The stuff that you would usually expect to be channel changers like the 24/7 stuff was cut down to a brief backstage segment this week.

Honestly...you have a point. My big concern would be if they'd be able to keep from only having a handful of people on the same show as the last time the brand split happened but it does seem like this strategy is paying off way more for them than the stuff that's happened before. The big thing, as you said, would be FOX and USA being concerned about having something "not theirs" but at the same time...that can still happen. You could have Brock appear on Raw and Ronda appear on Smackdown every so often or vice versa since it didn't seem like the issue was anything to do with the brand split as much as marketability.

I think the best move is doing what amounts to an informal brand split. AEW is developing that where if you want to see HOOK or Keith Lee for example, watch Rampage. Have the big movers enough on both shows so you know it's always possible but have a solid crew you can expect on each show.

You don't have the issues with Brock/Ronda for the networks because you can book it so the networks get them on a certain period of time to go with other talent.
