KO’s contribution to this whole thing is getting downplayed but it must have been incredible for him. He deserved this just as much. ‘Specially after the last year or so. It’s wonderful he had this.

10 years ago Kevin Steen was constantly referred to as someone that WWE would never sign and today he just main evented Wrestlemania with Steve Austin in what's probably gonna be one of WWE's most high profile segments in ages. That still hasn't set in yet.

It was a moment I'll never forget. When that bell rang, it finally became real. I had no idea what to expect, and at the beginning I was worried it was just gonna be a beat down with no bumps, but then they get more physical outside, then they go into the ground, and then Austin bumps on the concrete. It became even more real....like holy shit, this is an actual match. This will go down as a match, and not a fluke "match", but his actual last match ever with a modern talent, in Texas! What a great way to go out!
I bet both guys, despite the pain and wounds of battle, are absolutely ecstatic right now. Steve Austin got to be Stone Cold one more time, the crowd was nuts, and Owens got to wrestle a cornerstone of his childhood wrestling fandom in the MAIN EVENT of Wrestlemania. He did it, he main evented Wrestlemania against STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN!
Broken Skull Sessions with Owens later this year please.

I hope Austin and Owens had some beers together backstage after the show. That would just be the icing on the cake.

You know, I sat here thinking about this for a few minutes, and Stone Cold the character feels so alien in modern WWE in a way that's absolutely damning of the sterile, homogenized product they've become.

The match would’ve been great anywhere on the card but I’m glad this got the main event, especially for KO.
Charlotte/Ronda didn’t really deserve to go down as a Wrestlemania main event.

That was magic, right down to the hilarious post-match (Byron getting stunnered! KO getting arrested cause reasons!) Austin did great for his age/condition, and KO is even more of a made man for how well he performed. Absolutely 100% deserved the main-event slot.

KO is the man! I wasn’t sure what to expect since it had been so long, but once SCSA got his beers in him, business sure as hell picked up!
Great way to end Night 1. They are 3 for 3 in nailing the main event of Night 1.

The match was awesome - reminded me of Jericho/Steamboat in a lot of ways. It had no right to be that good.
My problem, aside from never being a huge Stone Cold fan, was Kevin's "I hate Texas" schtick. As a trans person, I'm with you, KO. But it has nothing to do with how dumb they look in cowboy hats. It killed the segment for me.

Better than it had any right to be. I remember Gangrel once says specifically taking a backdrop on concrete - when done right - can actually help loosen up a back if it begins to feel tight. But yeah, better than it had any right to be. Super fun match, crowd absolutely made it too. The one and only person I'd trust another Steve Austin match with is Heath Slater (he got a safe and good match from Bret Hart in 2010) and I hope he calls it a career. 10 years ago Kevin Steen was constantly referred to as someone that WWE would never sign and today he just main evented Wrestlemania with Steve Austin in what's probably gonna be one of WWE's most high profile segments in ages. That still hasn't set in yet. Holy shit, this just made me imagine how unwatchably bad a Steve Austin - Davey Richards match would be.

As a lifelong Steve Austin mark, that match was more than I could have ever realistically hoped for.
I knew they would be getting physical at Wrestlemania, but I figured it would be a "punch, punch, Stunner, beer bash, done" type deal. Which I would have enjoyed regardless.
But I not only wasn't expecting an actual match, getting a full on Attitude era brawl around the arena was such a great surprise.
Props to Kevin Owens for being so enjoyable as the villian and being a great safe opponent for Steve Austin

Can't believe it happened! I had given up hope of ever seeing him wrestle again.
Started slow, but it got great. I'm not surprised Austin went all out with the bumps, always said he wouldn't half arse it.

He obviously already liked KO enough to give him a new contract and a Wrestlemania main event with Austin but the fact he delivered and took care of Austin so well probably made him a made guy in Vince’s eyes tonight like AJ became after the Reigns/Cena matches.
I just remembered after I typed this that Vince let Owens headbutt him a few years ago so I guess he already had a good deal of faith in him.

Part of me wants to see more from Stone Cold but I'm finally content now.
For years I wanted to see him come back for one more match. And then Rock came back, Edge came back, everyone came back but MY GUY never did.
Then he was in his late fifties and I had given up on the idea, because obviously he was way past it.
And then out of nowhere he has a really fun brawl and match at 57 😂. So glad we got one more (and he didn't embarrass himself doing it).

I believe and hope that's it for him. There's no way whatsoever anything else could top that as a farewell.
