Also Owens has quietly built himself a nice Wrestlemania resume.

Wasn't booked for some reason. He was a regular on TV around then, I guess just with the Bryan / Kofi thing they didn't feel like coming up with something else for him to do and saw the Andre as beneath him.

“Good work, Steve. Now we know that you’re good enough to work a walk-and-brawl, how do you feel about Saudi?” “I don’t know. Can I still drink beer?” “The thing about that is…” “Then I say EH EH”

I’m glad it sounds like came off well. It would have been so depressing if it had been anything like say, Bret Hart and Vince.
I just can’t wrap my head around the fact they didn’t announce the match beforehand. I don’t know why you’d not.

Given Austin's age, how long he's been out of the ring and the long, documented history of ring wear, probably so they could pivot from a match to a segment if Austin woke up Saturday morning and said he couldn't do a full match.

Just Austin's walk being as confident and intense as ever made his performance. He didn't show that he still can do and take moves, he showed that he still has the old Stone Cold flow. What a great time machine that was - and I, too, wasn't the biggest Austin fan.

Watching online and they knocked it out of the park. Genuinely great moment.

Quite incredible that the more beer Austin drank, the better he got. Kinda like some people who can’t sink a pool shot until their third beer, then they start running the table. Have a friend like that, but if you keep him drinking he starts losing his aim around his sixth so there’s a sweet spot.

It's easier for fans to not have any expectations for the segment other than stunner and beer bash. If you advertise the match, I think the expectations would have been a little bit higher and that wouldn't have been fair to Steve.

I'm not the biggest Kevin Owens fan in the world. I think he is a hell of a talent at times but there are other times where a lot of his outlaw mud show roots show and I'd love for him to back it down a bit in those situations if for no other reason to keep him from killing himself. All that said, dude was there every step of the way with Steve Austin, took care of him, and put on a hell of a show.
On the flip side, SCSA was tremendous in this type of match and almost two decades removed, did one hell of a performance. I honestly didn't expect him to take bump one, let alone bumps on the floor. Dude might be able to work a real program if the itch strikes him.

I think that's exactly it... I'm sure that if he sleeps the wrong way his neck or knees could basically tell him to go f*** himself, and he can't do a match. Owens could probably carry Austin through a stunner if absolute needed to, but Austin would need to be able to move for a match. I also didn't notice till someone pointed out later that Austin really didn't do his signature spots outside of the Stunner... and it's pretty obvious why when you remember his main big spots have him land HARD on his knees. (which is at least part of the reason they are so bad I'm sure >_>)

That’s what I think happened also. I think it was “Steve, let’s have you do a segment at least, and maybe more.” And honestly it might have put more pressure on Austin if it had been a stand alone match. Anyway I loved it and it was better than it had any right to be, and yes it started slow(like a vintage car started off the first time in ages), but the adrenaline and the beer, you could see him warm up. That suplex on the concrete though😳 I was worried when Austin seemed to be flexing his right arm as if there was a problem. Also, KO is a made man now. Yes, it was slower but that’s due to Austin being in his late fifties but wasn’t this mad drop off which I was happy and he wasn’t a parody of himself. A really good night 1 and it seems the Logan Paul match was good but I’ll still pass on that.

Knowing Austin I think its safe to say the Saudi jokes and all that are just foolish. Austin is the one legend that actually really cares about his legacy above anything else

It went on far too long for my liking, especially considering a match was cut but it was fun and I'm pleased for KO on a personal level.

Quite incredible that the more beer Austin drank, the better he got. That was the best part. The first minute or two he was moving pretty gingerly and I thought this could be rough but the longer it went he looked better and better. It’s like the beer was kayfabe giving him energy. And him using the ATV to transport Owens up the ramp was amazing. Maybe no wrestler ever has combined being funny and badass better than Austin. Austin’s comedic sense has always been second to none in wrestling. It’s seems these days Wrestling is often either super serious or super silly. Austin has a good way of being funny without losing his edge. Though Owens is good at that in his own right. The laugh of the night for me was when he was challenging Austin to a match. “Your knees, your back and your neck were shot back then and I’m sure they are even worse now. But other than that, you’re FINE!”

I can’t believe it went on that long and it was that good. Was expecting Austin to just hit the stunner and get the win in 5 seconds. I loved it.

You know Vince respects the shit out of Owens. Remember, he too, left WWE for a bit during the early pandemic as he didn't really safe too. Wasn't there a story that he wasn't coming back until MASKS were mandatory backstage or something like that?
And here we are, with him having a main event with Austin.
