Like... I've been here a while. For those who see my posts, I more or less follow Proboards' rule about keeping the language in English, and that's when it hit me. Before, and all the time I've spent here, I don't think I've ever had any conversation between another person fully in the English language.
Not counting anything I've had to read in English class. Nothing at all, as much as I try to recall anything. The realization just came to me on the supermarket today, when I saw some children and their parents. The kids just yammering on to their parents about mundane stuff, and the conversation was in English. Filipino family, in the Philippines, using English. This really isn't a new thing, as middle and upper class families here tend to do that for a good long while now, but I was being in a contemplative mood when my thoughts struck me.
Like, it's weird. Online, it's either English or stupidity via text. Offline, ganito ako magsalita araw-araw. At most, it's Taglish, which is mixing the Filipino language with some English words thrown in. And one thing that has often given me thought is day to day my words are in my language but my thoughts are in English.
It's a weird feeling. And I'm not really sure where I'm going with this. To those who speak a non-English language primarily do you get moments like these?
