In all the FTR/Young Bucks and Samoa Joe talk, I want to give some love to an opener that delivered. Christian seemed to take up the role of vet who knew Cole's tricks and Cole was figuring out ways of trying to out-do him as well as take him down.
And if this is officially the start of the build to Christian Cage vs. Jungle Boy...well, yes please to that!

I said in the Dynamite thread that Christian is really the definition of work smarter not harder. And that's not meant as an insult. He doesn't do anything super flashy but everything he does make sense and it contributed to a great story.

Really good match. I love watching Christian wrestle. It's all the little things and subtle storytelling stuff.

Really good match. I love watching Christian wrestle. It's all the little things and subtle storytelling stuff. My favorite spot was when Adam spat on Christian and he runs to the other side, expecting Cage to chase him but he's already at the other side giving him a clothesline to the floor. Stuff like that makes all the difference about how he likely wrote the chapter in the Heel book about doing that so of course he'd know what to do.

Christian's matches are more what I want from Edge's matches. Similar storytelling but a faster pace. Phenomenal stuff.

Christian is such a master of pacing. I think Bryan might be the only person on his level when it comes to pacing. Those two get so much out of so little, which a lot of people try to do, but Christian and Bryan have this crazy ability to do it without their matches ever dragging or dipping. Christian doesnt do anything wild in his matches, hes just fundamentally incredible, and can give you 4 stars without breaking a sweat.

Christian's always been solid, but now that he's the wily veteran who knows he has to use his smarts and tactics to compensate for slowing down a step, it's like he's reached a new power level, it's just so much fun to watch the small details he makes sure to bring to every match.

There's something very Bret like about him at the moment. Just really good storytelling. Put him in the ring with Punk so they can have a Bret off.

That match got everything started on the right foot last night. The crowd was into everything they did. Every time Christian nearly put Cole away, we bit on it hard. Every time Christian kicked out of something, we lost our minds. I was hoarse after cheering so hard during the first damn match lmao I'm telling you guys, there's something to this Christian kid...

I wish NXT 2.0 could get away from the "Izzy's Parents Zone".

I'm glad it came across well on TV. The building was loud all night, but especially during the opener and the main event. We were a crowd that just wanted to have fun and see some great wrestling and we got what we came for lol

Honestly I'd say wwe crowds in general. I thought they had a shit crowd at Raw as well. AEW fans in general are just really into what's happening. Last week in South Carolina, Texas the week before and this week in Boston were all in front of hyped crowds

Between this match and the match with Kenny last summer, Christian's been putting on some serious bangers when he's needed to, and without really needing the win either. I feel like they've been spacing out his big matches enough that you don't really hit the diminishing returns level of a win against him not meaning as much, if that made any sense.
Definitely curious if this is going to be the start of a slow-burn heel turn after that backstage bit with JB. However you get there, a Christian vs. JB match would be a good PPV headliner for the name value alone but also would make sense as Jungle Boy essentially graduating from Christian's tutelage if you will.

Christian absolutely excels at making everything he does matter and look important, and Adam Cole is a cardio freak bump machine.
You were only ever going to get good things.

Some peeps looked at me like I had a second head when I said I was enjoying Christian's run more than Edge's a bit ago, but Edge's last two feuds have certainly made this even easier to decide for me tbh.

Edge has still been knocking it out of the park, in-ring and on the mic. He’s cemented himself as just an absolute top-tier all-timer, which is nice to see. He’s actually reinventing himself instead of playing the hits, like many legends do in WWE. Christian feels like he’s been more in the background and rarely having feuds at all, unfortunately. They should get him in the mix more as he’s one of my favorites in-ring. His pacing and style has always reminded me of Bret.

It was just so much fun, both guys brought it, the crowd brought it, just fantastic all around. Christian's "more with less" style is one of my favorites to watch, he can just do the same moveset every match and I'm still like !!!!! LOOK !!!!!!! And it was nice to have a Cole match that finished at the climax rather than plateauing with finisher kickouts for 20 minutes after the peak excitement.
