I usually don't do threads like this, but this is something that I needed to share. Back in November, my mom told me that my grandpa has cancer. He is 91 and for the past few months, he had gone through chemo and had gone through some other treatment. Last month, there was talk about him going into hospice.
It led to a hospital bed being brought to my grandma's house, as well as my grandpa using a respirator. Last night, he was taken to a hospital. My parents went to go see him. Some of my aunts and my uncles went to stay with him, one will also stay the night with him.
I feel bummed about this. Not just for myself, but also for my mom. This is my mom's dad, by the way. I also know that my grandma is going through some stuff, as well as has been taking care of my grandpa lately. I know my grandpa has lived a long life, but it's hard to see him in his current state and no one knows when he will go, but my family and other relatives have speculated that it won't be too long from now. It's also sad to see because around this time last year, he was still doing his thing like gardening.
I just needed to get this off my chest.

That does sound tough. I understand how you’re feeling. Stay strong for your family. Especially for your grandmother and mother. Easier said than done but remind yourself to stay strong, friend. Do it for your family.

This hits s nerve as I lost my Dad a year ago at 88 years old.
Watching a loved one in potentially their end days is incredibly difficult. I'd like to suggest, if you feel up to it, go see your grandpa if you haven't already. It'll be tough but I would suspect he'd like to see you.
Also, during this time, try to encourage your Mom and your Grandma. This is a physically, emotionally, and spiritually draining time and they will probably be on the brink of exhaustion of they aren't already. You sound like a good son/grandson. Whatever you can do to lighten their load I'm sure will be appreciated.
One of the hardest things for me to do for both my Dad and my Mom as they were dying was actually saying (well, whispering) "hey, you don't have to stay if this gets too hard. Life will be tough without you but we'll be OK. I love you and will miss you." And within hours of that, each left.
Hang in there. Thinking of you.

I know how you feel about your mom.
I wasn't very close to my grandma, but my mom was, so when my grandma died I was more upset that my mom was going through losing a parent than anything else.
My thoughts and prayers to you, your mom, and your grandpa.

Well, my mom told me that I should go see my grandpa really soon, like tomorrow, to "say goodbye to him." It hit me hard when I was told this. I know my grandpa has lived a long life, but it feels like he will go really soon. I will go see him, but this feeling I have, I just don't know how to handle it.
Again, thanks for the support.

The last 2 times that I saw my grandmother alive, she said the same thing to me. I'll share it with you. "You're going to be okay." Right now it's hard, but, you will be okay. Vent, if necessary. We'll be your shoulder.
You're in thoughts and prayers if you would like.
