Really surprised no one mentioned Big E. I mean I understand why his elevation was forgettable and quickly dropped but still it's surprising considering how high people are on him around here. Really shows how the ball was dropped.

Only when it makes sense. You'd have to have one or both wrestlers capable of becoming a singles star. A lot of the time these days tag teams are formed because both stars are lacking something. If it has to come to, they need to be able to float on their own. Although I'm not sure how it was when The Rockers broke up, I'm sure that HBK at least felt like he had "something" that sticks out and that he felt like he could do it on his own. Marty on the other hand just felt like he's "there" and he's still missing something.
Take Street Profits for example. I wouldn't call Montez HBK and Dawkins Marty because Dawkins is actually good, improving and he's stepping it up. Dawkins can be a good singles star although Montez is clearly "that dude" right now. Dawkins would be great in the midcard, be a great heavy and he'd be a great in other random rolls. I just can't say that for a Marty Jannetty.
So...yeah, if it makes sense then do it. If not then don't. I miss it to a degree...
But part of me is ok with it because they're not really pushing their singles stars to the best of their ability. If a guy becomes one then they might hit them up like they did Big E which is sadly be ok for a bit and then be a tag guy again. It sucks but htat's how they are.

I don’t…because these days WWE can’t capitalize on it if they wanted to. Several times one half of a tag team got injured and they couldn’t even bother to book the healthy one on shows. I think it happened with the Usos. They’ll break up teams for shits and giggles but when someone is hurt they won’t even throw their partner out there to see if they sink or swim as a singles star.

I get that Ford is the star and the charisma and all that but in ring I actually prefer Dawkins. I know I'm in the minority on that and a lot of it's just a style preference thing but Dawkins just seems more well rounded and believable to me. He also throws really good punches which is something I really like and think is kind of a lost art. With Ford it's the same reason why I was never that big on Kofi in that he's super athletic and graceful and does impressive things but doesn't do much that looks like it would actually hurt. Again though it's probably just a preference thing on my part as I like my wrestling more rugged (good strikes, power moves) and to look more like a fight.

Nowadays they just break teams up, and no one gets over
What a bold strategy.

Really shows how the ball was dropped. I think once they folded Big E back into the New Day again after that "push", it sort of undid the perception they were even having him break away properly. Unless it's a temporary reunion like the one the Shield had, when you go back to your old tag team again it's typically seen as the end of your singles push in WWE and at times even an acceptance that okay yeah it didn't work let's forget about it.

On the one hand, kinda, but on the other, the very concept of "The Janetty" has always been a bit of an annoyance Especially for Marty Janetty! If you want to look at tag team guys who never amounted to anything, it's f***ing Jim Neidhart. And he was actually the one who was meant to be the star of the team.
