Ever since Mania night 1, I just can’t watch ANY wrestling anymore. I feel I may have gotten way too invested into Homelander Cody, and am still furious that he actually made the jump to a massive welcome home pop, and that it WILL be him ending Romans championship reign. How do I get over it and start enjoying this great era of pro wrestling again??

Joke answer aside, I'd mainly suggest finding other things about the shows you care about. If you're expecting yourself to like every angle on any given wrestling show, you may be setting your bar high. On the topic of the Homelander jacket, do keep in mind Cody's explicitly said that the costumer who originally made it had no knowledge of Homelander. Given it's honestly not really much closer to Homelander's outfit than it is to Sting's jacket here, I think we can just kind of admit to ourselves that a lot of wrestlers use American flag iconography, and that maybe people got ahead of themselves. ![](https://64.media.tumblr.com/da097c2ca5c17b9eef9a3dc29982f77e/01a42fcf78681f81-7f/s400x600/3636d25f9e79b57f15e399857a7e85afa808c1d7.jpg)

Honestly, any time someone uses SMH, it just makes me think of this t-shirt since 2000 or so WWF was such a vivid time for me as a wrestling fan.

I mean...just follow Butch. His eventual feud with Madcap Moss is going to be the epics.

I mean Cody’s match.

I don't known how to help here. When Cody left AEW it really annoyed me until I realised I just got worked by an incredibly carny son of an incredibly carny son of a presumably not a carny plumber Plus I don't watch WWE so I can just stop giving a shit

He helped make AEW a thing, bled for it, scouted people, burned the shit out of himself, helped put Darby, MJF, and Sammy over, and then left when everyone insisted AEW didn't need him anymore, because they don't. Like, it wasn't necessarily everything I'd have liked it to be by the end, sure, but that was a hell of a three year run when taken as a whole. Sometimes mommies and daddies can still love each other but decide that the best thing to do for the family is to end it before it gets toxic, you know?

I'm not questioning the great work he did for AEW from the off, and in his first couple of years in the company. He just was way more into the anti-WWE rhetoric than any of the others were, that's what I feel like I got worked by, because every wrestler claims to be ride-or-die for the promotion they're signed to, even on the indies when they're not specifically signed anywhere, because that's how wrestling works. Carnies gonna carny. Once he did leave, I was glad he was gone - he had been acively detracting from the product for a while, it was better for everyone, I just feel like an idiot for taking any wrestler for their word on anything

How do I get over it and start enjoying this great era of pro wrestling again?? I honestly 100% feel you, but in a different way. I've fallen out of love with AEW. Due to a myriad of reasons. I haven't watched a full show in a long while now, even though I know they're putting on great matches. Like one of my dream matches was this past week with Joe vs. Suzuki, and the product is so toxic to me right now I was like "eh". So I understand knowing we're in this great era of pro wrestling, but feeling burnt by it, or apathetic, or indifferent towards it. I've felt like I've been alone on this shitty island for awhile now. I hope the mist clears for both of us and we can find that passion and love for it again in our respective ways.

Cody leaving didn't really upset me, he felt out of place for awhile. He was basically running a WWE style angle on AEW etc..
And WWE basically traded 20 guys for him.

What exactly is "toxic" about AEWs product, curious question.

I'm getting the same feeling from Ciampa.
He once said that he would retire if the moved him from NXT to the main roster. Yet, here we are, a week after his debut on Raw and no retirement announcement.
Wrestlers will say whatever needed to get support from their audience. Always working.

Not to make excuses for wrestlers, since yeah, a lot of them do stretch the truth or even flat out lie, but also, people are allowed to change their mind, their priorities, etc. Like, especially over the course of literal years.
