I honestly 100% feel you, but in a different way. I've fallen out of love with AEW. Due to a myriad of reasons. I haven't watched a full show in a long while now, even though I know they're putting on great matches. Like one of my dream matches was this past week with Joe vs. Suzuki, and the product is so toxic to me right now I was like "eh". So I understand knowing we're in this great era of pro wrestling, but feeling burnt by it, or apathetic, or indifferent towards it. I've felt like I've been alone on this shitty island for awhile now. I hope the mist clears for both of us and we can find that passion and love for it again in our respective ways. What exactly is "toxic" about AEWs product, curious question. To keep it as brief as possible b/c last time I tried to talk about it it didn't end well: 1. Rampant tribalism masked in "who me?" 2. The general state of "What the f*** are you doing Tony Khan?" on many levels Those are the main two things and both bleed into the product making it all but impossible for me to be able to ignore it enough to get lost in it. Not even "The Twink Messiah" Hook can get me interested lately! I do watch clips on YT here and there if something catches my eye (like I just watched Dalton Castle's entrance to see if he had his old music back, sadly no) but yeah that's about all I can tactfully say publicly. It's dumb I know, feel free to go all Nelson on me, but it's a thing right now.

I'm getting the same feeling from Ciampa. He once said that he would retire if the moved him from NXT to the main roster. Yet, here we are, a week after his debut on Raw and no retirement announcement. Wrestlers will say whatever needed to get support from their audience. Always working. He also said he didn't think his body could do a main roster schedule... we'll see how that goes. Didn’t he recently rehab himself? Could have something to prove himself, while also the opportunity to earn more than he ever has in his life. Why not try?

Ever since Mania night 1, I just can’t watch ANY wrestling anymore. I feel I may have gotten way too invested into Homelander Cody, and am still furious that he actually made the jump to a massive welcome home pop, and that it WILL be him ending Romans championship reign. How do I get over it and start enjoying this great era of pro wrestling again?? I honestly 100% feel you, but in a different way. I've fallen out of love with AEW. Due to a myriad of reasons. I've felt like I've been alone on this shitty island for awhile now. I hope the mist clears for both of us and we can find that passion and love for it again in our respective ways. I've been losing more and more interest for a long time now. And, like, I don't know. I kind of feel like ever since WWE and Vince inescapably became a proxy for... ...other things, all of American wrestling has been tainted in its wake. It heaps extra misery on top of WWE's misery booking, and it also casts a weird shadow over AEW in a way too (not to mention, I don't have cable, so Dynamite and Rampage weren't available to me anyway), like if an act or an angle just isn't grabbing you, people are going to assume it's because you're a Vince drone. I even cancelled my NJPW World sub until my finances stabilize, and now I'm not even sure if I want to re-sub then. None of this is _fun_ anymore, to me.

Ovw is really the only show I have to watch all the way through anymore.
I just follow my favorites at this point.
Cameron Grimes defends the NA championship.
Rok-C debuts on Level Up.
Dalton Castle in a ROH title match.
Then if I here something batshit Mapcap Moss or Butch. I’ll go out of my way to watch that.

This is me and I wish (and will) I would have taken the high road in the past and I found myself watching AEW to critique it out of some insane self-fulfilling "GOTCHA" situation with the perceived gatekeeping fans instead of just enjoying it for what it is and respecting their passion... Many things they do now do worry me however as that "sports feel" they promoted is seemingly gone (hopefully passed back to ROH in the very near future) and I don't really know what the goal is anymore...To grow they will have to change some of the things that the hardcore crowd holds their hats on like not over replaying etc but unfortunately, you nearly have to treat each show as if someone just stopped on it and has no damn clue what Danhausen is...It's okay no one does but that's the thing I guess...

Kenny had the right idea trying to appeal to fighting game.nerds for example.I feel like AEW is really good at appealing fanbases ,so they should try to go for groups of other medias instead of generic wrestling old time tactics. Basically less classic wrestling tactics and do more what they did at the start with fun branding and events

People’s minds aren’t stagnant. Saying one thing and actually thinking another (essentially lying) is one thing, but it’s common for people to say things they mean at the time they’re saying them but then later take action that goes against that because they have changed their view on that particular issue.

How do I get over it and start enjoying this great era of pro wrestling again?? I don't known how to help here. When Cody left AEW it really annoyed me until I realised I just got worked by an incredibly carny son of an incredibly carny son of a presumably not a carny plumber Plus I don't watch WWE so I can just stop giving a shit Dusty Sr. 3:16 says I just fixed your pipes! On topic, I took about four or five months off from WWE and got back into it more going into WM season and it was a good break for me. It wasn’t that I hated the product, just felt like it was treading water and I had other things I could do. Getting away from time to time is not a bad thing.

Basically less classic wrestling tactics and do more what they did at the start with fun branding and events That is the thing too I wasn't having fun. I was going at people here, on twitter and reddit and honestly using the botches and failures of athletes (both personal and professional) you actually enjoy to demean their employer is a weird way to live your life and I became that out of anger (not justifying it either). I am not on any side of the fence really I have just devolved into a bitter fan who felt overwhelmed and that I had to follow the hive mindset or be attacked... A bitter fan driven crazy by the fact that anything that is done in the WWE is seemingly crapped on online (it used to be in good nature I felt as this is not new obviously) but now due to the online impenetrable shield hardcore fans have put up for AEW no matter how great AEW is (Usually is too) I can't bring myself to care. Believe me, this happens here too and it makes me resent AEW in what should be a wrestling utopia...It's weird. I saw a meme recently that resonated with me as a took an assisted 7 day break from here for the first time in 20 years and it said: "I do not want to see AEW fail...I want to see the fans see it fail" and I felt like that was how I was becoming and that's horrible on my part regardless if I can't stand certain people or the gatekeeping etc...In the end I don't have to like everyone but I will do better on ignoring them out of the respect everyone deserves and have made a personal vow to just stay out of that section (reply wise) until I actually have something positive to contribute instead of just bashing their product which has shown is likely not for me anyway as they continue to push the envelope with the buckets of blood and mocking of religious imagery on what is basically a world-wide holiday.

Lol, you were actually enjoying WWE before this?
This is the thing that turns you off the product?
I don't even know how to begin to help you then.

Thousands of people have become completely deranged by random wrestling companies culture war-style. It's bizarre to see, and really just kind of pathetic.

Lol, you were actually enjoying WWE before this? This is the thing that turns you off the product? I don't even know how to begin to help you then. This is a major part of the problem though when looked at from the other side...The blanket disgusted "ew you actually liked it" statements as if all WWE fans are inherently as bad as the rhetoric that is spewed at WWE. It's a slippery slope that causes people to get defensive or kills their enjoyment for the product which seems to be the ultimate goal. The amount of drama over a fake sport while the actual wrestlers seem to live their best lives is nearly unfathomable.

The OP has every right to think I'm the one with the problem for not liking it.

I watch mostly these days to keep tabs on certain people and for matches here or there that seem good. And this goes for multiple companies. Else wise, I have a list of stuff from 1994 to 2021 that is available on the Network, a couple on demand services and AEW I plan to re-watch over time. I opted to start in 1994 with Bret/Owen from Mania cause it was the first time since I became a fan in 1992 that I recall really enjoying things from a work perspective even as a kid who supposedly can't appreciate that according to people these days.
