The USFL made its return last night.
For those who watched the game, what did you think? How was the level of play? Could the league last longer than one season?

I think it was a fun first game.
There was a bit of sloppiness in the first half, but both teams made adjustments, and it was a fun, exciting finish.
Hopefully this can keep up. At least make it a full season, unlike the last two spring leagues.
Also, the New Orleans Breakers unis are SHARP. Love their helmet.

Welp, plenty of good seats available at this Michigan/Houston game. And by 'plenty', I mean all of them.

This just doesn't have the same energy to me as the XFL did in 2020. The production isn't my cup of tea really and the lack of an atmosphere for these games today just takes me out of it. I hope the Rock's XFL does better next year.

Welp, plenty of good seats available at this Michigan/Houston game. And by 'plenty', I mean all of them. Putting the entire regular season in Birmingham is making the league look so amateur. It looked fairly legitimate on the first night because one of the teams playing was the Birmingham Stallions. But whenever any of the other seven teams plays, the stadiums are going to be all but empty, because who in Alabama is going to spend their money to watch B-tier football played between teams from cities that are hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away? When someone turns on the television and sees a 47,000-seat stadium with a couple hundred fans in attendance, they're going to wonder if it's worth the investment. Hell, the players will wonder if it's worth the investment. I don't know what portion of the USFL's revenue is factoring in ticket sales, but they have to be prepared to take a major hit financially on that end, because it's not going to get any better as the season progresses and the curiosity factor wears off.

Yeah, it just looks bad. I have never seen an emptier stadium in my life.

Watching a lot of the Michigan vs. Houston and....I am not liking this play.
I mean, maybe you should have had them work together for more than a month. Also, the drone noise is getting annoying.

So, I’ve not been watching because I don’t know when and where to do so. I’m not opposed to watching feeder leagues (XFL was fun last time around), so I was wondering if it is worth my time figuring those watch details out. Is it?

So, I’ve not been watching because I don’t know when and where to do so. I’m not opposed to watching feeder leagues (XFL was fun last time around), so I was wondering if it is worth my time figuring those watch details out. Is it? The XFL last time around was fun and I was really into it. Part of it yes a local team to cheer for but the excitement the city had for the team make it that. The games where fun most of the time. Some cities had great crowds as in loud and turn out. The cup snake was cool. If the Rock's XFL can bring that energy to its league, that will be successful. I hope the city selected whenever he announces it and they have a stadium partnership like last time. To the OG post, I mean the idea all the games in Birmingham is asking for failure. You want to appeal fans of each city and by doing that, have home games AT said city. It won't work or last if the only team that getting people showing up the team in that city. Nobody will care last said about Houston and Michigan in AL. It won't work. It makes no sense to even call any of the teams another city if they never get to play in said city. Its like its Birmingham and friends. Of course Birmingham will be undefeated because they are the only one with fans. May as well be Brimingham lcoal football verison of the Harlem Globetrotters. At less the AFL and the XFL used the local markets Stadiums and had a good presentation, just needed better funding and it could worked. I hope the Rock doesn't make the all games in one place mistake and build on what worked in the last XFL.

On Sunday, the real championship game will take place between Michigan and Pittsburgh.
Who will get the second win? Will Pittsburgh overcome their very own coach?

Was a fun first regular season. They need to get more people in the stands for the playoffs and season 2 though.

I just read they changed their rules to prevent tanking. Now the winner of the tank bowl between the two worst teams gets the first pick in the next draft.
I absolutely love it. And because Jeff Fisher is the coach of one of those terrible teams, he will lose.

And because Jeff Fisher is the coach of one of those terrible teams, he will lose. No, because his opponent is Kirby Wilson, a man who cut a player for wanting pizza and demands his team show "good fundamentals" over actual talent, to the point he benched his best player for going against the script.
