I’m fine with new name, just thought her old name might get a few more clicks for people that don’t watch NXT
Anyways what the hell was that!?
Rok-C’s story is absolutely incredible, training as a teenager, taking a bus ride for two hours just to train, its not like they were even hiding it they mentioned she was trained by Booker T.
Then there’s this weird “I played WWE games now I’m in the real WWE.” It’s like they had that Cora Jade gave her a skateboard instead

They want to appeal to a younger audience. She's young and attractive and plays video games so prototypical baby face in their eyes.

I mean, from experience, young people can tell when they're being pandered to so being overt with stuff is likely to put them off more than anything. It's also a weird direction to go, it's easier to talk about how decorated she is at a young age or her experience even though she's 20 and what she'll bring to NXT but...having her thing just be video games? It'll come off like 50+ year olds coming up with the character because 50+ year olds are coming up with the characrer.

Honestly I'm tired of the young face girl who was a fan growing up and "is living her dream" blah blah blah. It lacks creativity and is just redundant. Especially since they have Cora Jade doing pretty much the same character on the same show. Like if you would have one girl doing it then great as that's a good way to rally behind someone. However when you keep doing it over and over with multiple girls after a while it just kind of goes in one ear and out the other.

I think it was Bryan Alvarez who pointed it out, but NXT 2.0 is basically 120 minutes of “Hello Fellow Children!” In wrestling form.

-Talks about how big of a WWE fan she is and how she’s living her dream -Talks about her tough upbringing -Talks about her being a gamer girl
Man, they just gave her AJ Lee’s NXT Season 3 gimmick.

It does come off that way when I see anything about it and, like...I'm not saying I have the answers but telling someone to just say video game stuff like they just read a Forbes article about the video game industry feels like the least amount of effort for a new character. Like, if it were me doing this, I'd tell Rok-C to get a Twitch account, promote it on the show, make some deals to play stuff from certain developers and show it on the show so there's interactivity with the audience and her opponents can send her trollish comments that can be promoted as feuds for the show. But WWE has policies against that and it'd cost her more money than it would benefit so that ain't going to happen. But it at least feels relevant to the time instead of going "I'll cut down your health bar lol" It's like my thing with Cora Jade being a skateboarder, why they haven't shot videos of her with actual skateboarders and doing tricks is beyond me, unless she can't actually do it which, in that case, why the f*** is her gimmick a skateboarder?

Funny enough, AJ has a bit of a running friendly joke on Twitter referring to Rok-C and Cora Jade as her "daughters", I believe. But yeah, girl's got a great built-in story to show her dedication to the industry, seems a waste not to lean on that.

Kind of fits in this case since AJ is Roxanne’s hero/inspiration. She also had gear reminiscent of AJ’s here as well. It’s too the point that they like to joke back and forth about Roxanne being AJ and Punk’s “daughter.”

Would be interesting if there were an online interview with her saying why she went from that to the skateboard gimmick, because there wasn't any noticeable lead-up to it at all besides suddenly wearing flashy-colored gear on NXT and 205 Live before then.
