Great. A bunch of great matches and then a 74 year old man who shouldn't be anywhere near a ring because he has a laundry list of health issues the last decade, including a f***ing pacemaker THAT HE'S GOING TO TURN OFF, is going to have a match.   I don't care who his opponent is. I don't care if the match is 2 min long. It's a f***ing stupid idea and is the carniest thing that ever carnied.

When I saw the podcast bit on YouTube slating Jay it became very obvious where this is going. I won't be ordering for obvious reasons.

As far as I'm concerned Flair's last match was still in 2008 😂

Also the brushing under the carpet of the whole plane ride from hell thing is mad, still no spot anymore for the producers on any of Conrad's podcasts 😬

With all the "drama" about Lethal no-showing Ric's podcast and Lethal being mad about not being booked on this show I'm pretty sure it's Ric vs Jay in the main event here.

I get people feeling like this is an odd show but this is one of the better cards on paper in awhile. Super diverse styles. There’s something for everybody.

Conrad often cites something he heard from Dusty Rhodes where wrestling was described like the circus. If you don't like the strongman (big muscle guys) then there's the acrobats (luchadores,) if you don't like the acrobats then there's clowns (comedy wrestlers,) don't like clowns? how about the lion tamer? (regular guy vs. wildman) and so on. so him booking a show with this mentality makes sense.

The fact they haven’t announced an opponent yet is strange and makes me think a) everyone they’ve contacted has turned it down like Steamboat did or b) it’s someone so underwhelming that it will sell more tickets simply as “Ric Flair’s last match” and this person’s name also being on the marquee isn’t going to do anything for business.

There were reports of Flair and FTR v Rock N Roll Express and a partner but the way everyone’s talking it’s going to be a singles match which is a terrible idea (not that the whole thing in general isn’t already).

That's the thing. On paper, this is a card that looks like a anticipated WrestleMania weekend card WrestleCon would put up that's not quite Joey Janela's Spring Break but also not "lower named promotion showcasing their talent with a few names sprinkled on". Except it's a show that Ric Flair is headlining for reasons.

As much as I'd rather people not enable this doofus, I get why people are doing the show from a networking perspective. There's a lot of people signed on for this, and it's probably going to be a good way to meet people and build connections. It's just in the service of something morally dubious.

It's Summerslam weekend as well, so even if the almost disgraced sex predator wasn't having his next "last match," there would still be quite a few independent wrestling supercards going on anyway. This just ended up being a convenient thing to latch on to.
