I still think Shotzi’s unbelievably bad performance at the Survivor Series right after her turn is what left her dead in the water. She legit looked like a second day trainee out there She's never been a great worker but calling her up to immediately turn her was setting her up to fail. She's almost never worked as a heel and that's a different style that someone on the greener side might not pick up right away. It they actually planned things out in advance, you turn her in NXT and let her grow into the role first. Or just don't turn her because her connection with the audience can make up for any work issues. Yeah, I'm not going to claim to know a lot about Shotzi's ring work, think I only saw her in one or two matches before she went to NXT, but she's got vibrant energy out there and a look/gimmick that absolutely screams "merchandize the hell out of this". Also, if she's not a particularly good worker it makes turning her heel so quickly even more baffling; why would you turn someone heel when you're a promotion that usually structures matches around the heel taking the lead and calling things/setting the pace/etc.?

Ugh, I shouldn't have clicked on this thread again. Every time I think of Shotzi's heel turn, it makes me angry.

Basically the heel turn took away everything that made her cool and unique and replaced it with, nothing.

So Nakamura stands up for his friend, gets beaten up, and disappears? Okay. I'm pretty sure WWE realised that nobody was buying Nakamura as having a hope in hell against Roman, and so decided to pull the plug on Nakamura/Reigns. Maybe it would have been a good idea to have Shinsuke win one of his previous 6 WWE title shots?
When you treat a guy like Nakamura as a loser for years, don't be surprised when the crowd is like "LOL, like Shinsuke is gonna win".

The only thing Shotzi got from her heel turn was turning on Sasha before Sasha turned on her yet a few weeks later that means nothing since Sasha beats her clean. Not that it meant much anyway since Sasha was suddenly a face again and Shotzi was bad for not trusting her. Having someone turn heel on someone who has turned on everyone just isn't going to lead anywhere but downward unless they try to present a gray area for characters.

I was going to laugh at this as yet another example of WWE breaking up a team without even allowing them to team long enough for people to care, but A) No one is ever going to care about the team of Jinder and Shanky B) Wikipedia tells me they first teamed up on May 3 last year, so they've already been a team for an entire year, which might as well be forever by WWE standards.

I hate the “beat the clock challenge” things and always have. There’s zero reason, especially with a thin division as it is, to make some of them look like total goobers just to continue a feud that has little heat as it is. Not to mention, what incentive is there for the opponents in kayfabe? If they pull off the upset win, do they get added to the challenge (given the one or two times they did do upset wins, the answer is obviously "no")? These challenges are always presented as "how fast can this guy beat this loser".

Man, Ronda beating Shotzi isn't shocking, but then again you have people like Tyson Kidd who are claiming Ronda is good for the division and that she elevates everyone she works with.
I wish WWE would just stop pandering to Ronda (and to a lesser extent Charlotte), and that she would just leave at this point because I feel like once she gains the title, her reign is going to be absolutely miserable, with her constantly phoning it in, and her just bulldozing over everyone until the inevitable Becky match next year.

Ronda CAN make other women look good, when she wants to.

They should've brought up Toni Storm as a heel as she was working heel towards the end of her NXT run and looked good enough in the role. Then they could've brought Shozi up as a face and kept her that way. Instead they did it the other way around.

What makes it worse is once Ronda wins the belt then there's no credible heels for her other then Charlotte. All the women who look to be in line for pushes are faces. Raquel is a face it looks like and Lacey is going to be a face unless they do a swerve (the convenient sudden Xia heel turn makes me think other wise though). For heels you have Charlotte, Natalya and Shayna who are in the tag division (if you can even call it that at this point), Shotzi who is a jobber, and Xia who it's still too early to tell but I'm thinking is probably going to be used to put Lacey over. So you know what that means? Lots more of Ronda and Charlotte with them doing endless rematches or them hot potatoing the belt back and forth.

I will always go back to this moment between Io and Shotzi...where Shotzi is arrogant but she is not a heel and I feel for as short lived as this was it was a great balance and it made her immediately feel important.

Ronda doesn’t phone it in at all. You may not like her but you can tell she’s worked hard to be a part of the wrestling business.

She's made it clear in the past she doesn't like the fans, and her promos are incredibly bad even by WWE standards. And her ring work has been well below average as well as she's incredibly sloppy and her punches are among the worst I've ever seen in a combat sport. She makes Shane McMahon look like prime Mike Tyson.
