It’s for the best, I guess. Firstly, who knows what her ambitions are for returning to wrestling after giving birth, and this’ll let her decide that on her own time. Second, the NXT she left and the NXT she would have come back to are completely different animals, and it’d be one that may not be as welcoming to her as it once was. And that’s before you even try and figure out if they’d have wanted her for main roster, what they could’ve changed about the act, all that other stuff. Nothing to worry about there now.
As it is, she leaves the New York/Orlando territory with a win/loss record of 38-22-2.

And with that, Io Shirai is now the longest tenured NXT woman on the show. With only Roderick Strong being ahead of her in terms of overall tenure, but he wants out, so assuming he eventually gets it, she'll be the longest tenured overall talent on the show.

Not saying it’s gonna happen.
However the Young Bucks are probably beating down Tony Khan’s door right now wanting him to call her.
They love Candice.

I am shocked they didnt extend her contract just to be petty.
I never saw her as a huge main roster star but I thought with her bubblegum face character she could have been a good JTTS. Make other people look good, maybe get a tag title run at some point. Her and Kai pre heel turns could have made a good team.

Her and Johnny have to land somewhere, though who knows where at this point.
Johnny has spoken again and again about wanting to work backstage as a trainer/agent/producer and WWE was actively letting him train in that area.
Whether that means he goes back to do that, who knows, but I could see both him and Candice deciding to eventually return to work just at the PC/NXT simply because of not wanting the travelling now they're parents so they can live and work from Florida, together, and be day to day parents.

Certainly for the best as she doesn't fit into the direction the women are heading in,hopefully she'll continue wrestling and work other places as she's a great hand. You just can't see any reason why Io will stay on as well.

It is all for the best because if they do not see value in the likes of Sarray and other NXT women they have let go or do nothing with then damn sure see no value in her. Always said that of the NXT tenured women Io was gonna be the last one standing because that is the one woman WWE does not want to and cannot afford lose specifically to their big rival. Io when she comes back to NXT. ![](https://c.tenor.com/U3QqFdI8svYAAAAC/pulp-fiction-confused.gif)
