...even in the context of a joke, I cannot pretend anyone gives a shit about Manu.

Speaking of Legacy, Cody did a social media promo where he referenced the infamous "HE TRIED TO f*** ON ME" incident happened in the same building that WrestleMania Backlash happened in tonight.
So, I guess Ted Jr. is not completely excluded from tonight's festivities.

So, I guess Ted Jr. is not completely excluded from tonight's festivities. "I'm moving forward, I'm moving on". Obviously Cody has been away from WWE too long and forgot how things work. Fully expecting him and Seth to fight about twenty more times this year despite there no longer being any need for it to be an issue at this point. Especially after the pulling the tights finish. Also I find it funny how Cody has way more chemistry with attractive blonde interviewer woman I don't know the name of then he ever did with Brandi.

Poor Ted Jr. He was the first one to really try and reach out to the people after The Legacy with the DiBiase Posse and the tailgate parties and ends up washing out of wrestling, meanwhile Orton has never really stopped acting like an asshole and Rhodes actively help set up a competing promotion to WWE, yet they're two of the most beloved guys in the company. Go figure.

...even in the context of a joke, I cannot pretend anyone gives a shit about Manu. Manu is like a fever dream. Whenever I see him mentioned and spend like 30 seconds thinking "What the hell was a Manu, it sounds familiar". Then I remember and my brain is like "Oh yeah that dipshit that looked like a bump on a log and was around for a cup of coffee. Didn't he get busted for using a Wizzinator or some similar fake weener thing to get around drug tests that he failed anyway?"

Go figure. Hey, hey, let's not pretend Ted Jr didn't have successes, post Legacy. He successfully stole millions from the neediest of people in the poorest state in the US while smiling and getting fawning coverage for dedicating his life post wrestling to giving back to those in need. He successfully set a new low for wrestlers in the modern era. Seriously, what he, his brother and father did should be a black mark against the DiBiase family and never be forgotten.

It's kinda funny, back around 2010 when Legacy ended I was totally one of those who was sure that Ted Jr. would be the one to "make it" to the top, and that Cody would fizzle out in the midcard. I just thought Ted had more of the look of a main eventer.
Sure enough, Cody really came into his own with Dashing, Un-Dashing, IC Champion, and his run on the independents(I think he really found himself there, and was the complete package by the time AEW started), and the rest is history. Meanwhile, Ted was the one who kinda just faded and eventually retired. I know I wasn't the only one who was wrong about that.
Ted never really stopped being "Ted Jr." Whereas Cody, as he spoke about on Broken Skull Sessions, was able to form his own character and step away from just being Dusty's kid. Being Dusty's son is part of his identity, but it's not the only factor to him.

Cody is so over that Seth got proper booed during that match (which does not happen much these days).

Remember the CAWdy Rhodes days when he was the blandest looking guy on the roster? Come a long way since.
That was 15 years ago now mind.

I predicted Cody would do marginally better than Ted, and Ted sucked.
I genuinely didn't see anything in Cody like what he has now until he left WWE.

He seemed like the one the company was more behind and also had the better size and looked more believable then Cody who was still pretty thin and hadn't really filled out yet. Legacy was working with a lot of top faces whom were also bigger guys such as Batista, Cena, and Triple H and Dibiase to his credit when in there with them looked like he belonged while Cody on the other hand looked like a job guy who had no chance. I think what it came down to was Cody being smarter and having a better head for the business. If you listen to interviews with like the recent Broken Skull one he just did he's clearly a very smart dude who gets it. I remember Morrison and Miz was a similar situation around that same time. Everyone thought Morrison was going to be the bigger star as he was booked more like the alpha and was the better athlete and worker but Miz ended up having the better career and reaching greater heights. It is kind of interesting sometimes in the modern era where the guy who seems like the second banana in a team ends up having the better career then the chosen one of the team. I guess it's maybe the Cody's and Miz's become more motivated as a result and have to work harder and smarter while the Ted's and Morrison's maybe get complacent thinking they are the chosen one and everything will fall into place only to get left behind.

It's interesting how sometimes it seems like higher expectations can be a detriment. Using Miz and Morrison as an example like you said, I remember Morrison got compared a lot to Shawn Michaels in certain places on the IWC. That's huge shoes to fill to say the least. Meanwhile, Miz got clowned on a lot for being on reality TV, the hair and weird clothes pre-trunks, etc. I definitely agree that it really seems like guys like Miz and Cody have that ambition and drive, and maybe a little bit of aggression to do what they have to do to reach the top. Morrison is a great wrestler, and I'm a big fan of the guy, but he's always given me a very laid-back chill vibe. I think it was Chris Jericho who I heard say that you have to be a little bit of an A-hole to become a top superstar sometimes lol.

I can the office seeing that and thinking "he doesn't want it bad enough" or whatever and unfairly discarding guys like that as a result. Dibiase like Morrison struck me as more of a laid back guy too although with the news that's come about him and his family the last few years I guess being an A-hole who cons and back stabs people isn't something he is above so in that regard I'm surprised he didn't end up having a better career.

I think a lot of people expected big things from Ted because he got The Marine 2 role. But it turns out that was the big anomaly, because once Legacy started drifting apart from Mania, you could see Cody already having success as Dashing Cody Rhodes, while Ted got his father's vanity title and a hot valet, and didn't seem to have anything else differentiating himself from the DiBiase Jr. that was in Legacy.
