Serious injury / death goes beyond the accepted risks of the sport. They could face civil and criminal liability if they do not clear objects that could impale the opponent. Since when was any of this a problem for WWE? We've seen people set alight, multiple examples of vehicular assault, assault with various weapons, people thrown off buildings and other high structures, eyes gouged out, limbs purposefully broken, stabbings, druggings, sexual assaults, peopole buried alive, an attempt to immolate someone with fireworks, venomous snake attacks, attmepted stabbing with a broardsword, throats intentonally crushed. I don't think they're all that worried about occupational health and safety. As I noted a couple of weeks back, NXT 2.0 is literally an entire crime scene unto itself.

Yup. They could probably do away with the whole deal since LED monitors are thin and not as much of a hazard to bump on, and probably as cheap as they've ever been, though still decently expensive since live broadcasting requires as little delay as possible, hence why the CRTs stayed around the announce table well after most homes ditched them. But clearly, no one wants to stop doing it since the table clearing gets such a massive pop every time. My personal theory has always been that at some point in the 80s someone in WWE accidentally added a couple of extra zeroes on a CRT monitor order, and Vince said that he won't pay for any new monitors until after they've used up the ones they have.

At this point they could probably figure out a system to have iPads in drop cases if they wanted. Again, though, CRTs are still used in broadcasts because it’s the closest it can come to the live footage so until tablets and such can get that close to it, that’s how it’d have to be. They did manage to get LCD's down to close to the same as CRTs in most respects (They are also way smaller screens then most CRT monitors) but... yeah for live television feeds which is what they are there for you need to know what is being shown on the screen as close to 1:1 as you can get... and things like Tablets have delays. I mean he says why they used CRT's for as long as they did in the post. CRTs don't lag, they've existed so long that they managed to get them down to 1:1... flat screens have only relatively recently gotten close to as effecient... and when you are doing live television you can't have lag. otherwise the commentators would be talking about stuff that happened like 5 seconds ago (or five seconds later depending) instead of what's happening now.
