I have a feeling Statlander will win that match at least. She’s facing Velvet, who is one of The Baddies. They could maybe use this as a way to set up Kris vs. Jade at DON perhaps? Certainly feels like the only way Velvet could win. Feels weird given they're setting up K-Stat as this dark destroyer of worlds right now, but, that's the kind of weird that results when injuries change the plan.

Didn't she work Japan shows in Osaka right after the Deeb match? Either way, maybe Stat makes the finals now, if not, I think she beats Red and maybe loses to Ruby. I don't particularly see the alternate winning, but I could see the Baddies costing her in some way or mocking her if she loses vs Ruby or the Finals, setting up the TBS Title match. If it's happening at the PPV though, some tomfoolery is a'happenin

She worked four shows last week and has her theatrical combat performance show tomorrow but nothing else scheduled.

Page confronts Sky after the match and asks him what team he's on. Sky then takes out Kaz and they reveal it was the plan all along. Sammy and Tay then come out to make the save. They're booed heavily. I thought they made Scorpio Sky a good face, and they just completely crapped on that. Disappointing...

I found myself worrying that his face turn wouldn't be sustainable because he still didn't have a hook as a face. I can see that being a reason to go back on it. ...still seems like it would have been a good idea to just completely end the Sammy and Tay part of the story when there was a chance to.

So weird seeing them being so stubborn with this Guevara/Conti v Men Of The Year/Lambert thing. It just reads like something that people weren’t expecting to happen in AEW.

Honestly at this point maybe you should just lean into the TNT title being an asshole belt for assholes.

Kinda speaks to the fact that bad booking happens for, well, all sorts of reasons. No booker has ever been immune to factors that will sabotage their booking quality: there will always be complications to roster availability, there will always be segments and matches that looked great on paper and died a death in execution, and there will always, always, ALWAYS be wrestlers that the booker has valid reasons to push who just do not click with the audience. This case seems especially odd since there have been so many visible pivots, and the pivots have now made a perfect circle back to a phase that wasn't working. And to add to that - it's even more confusing because this latest snapback makes less sense than the status quo it's upending, and the more sensible status quo (Scorpio as a face, about to be beset by Ethan Page and Paige Van Zant) seemed like a result that fulfilled at least one long term booking goal (making Scorpio a viable face).

It's more weird considering Tony on Swerve's podcast publicly said he was disbanding Tay and Sammy because he could hear how much it isn't working So I don't really get what he's doing here, unless he's dragging it out till the PPV because "PPV's where stuff resets and new feuds get made", which like, fair enough, but I would have kept Sammy and Tay offscreen until then... if you want Tay to be face again, this isn't exactly helping unless they do an angle where she drops Sammy like a bad habit eventually... just feels weird, it'd feel less weird if Khan didn't outright state he was gonna split Tay and Sammy up... so either something changed or they just... aren't there yet, but Tony's gotta know this isn't going to be received too great, when he openly admitted it isn't lol.

I have no idea what they’re doing with this now?
Did Vince Russo write this?

Unless there was more than the clip I saw...he didn't say he was disbanding them, just that he was adjusting because the audience didn't like them together. ...which STILL doesn't actually jive with what went down, but, I feel it's an important point. He sounded coy about it and the spoilers are just making me sigh at it.

I have no idea what they’re doing with this now? Did Vince Russo write this? It feels like they wanted to go for Ole Anderson turning on Dusty, but Kaz isn't Dusty, and this isn't like trapping him in the cage, it's just costing him a title match, something they could have done just as easily without the charade. Maybe if Kazarian wasn't so rarely on TV, anyway, this would hit harder, but this feels a lot more like, "Who gives a shit, though?" territory. I am assuming this leads to a tag match with Sammy/Kaz vs Ego/Sky, but that's just blatantly filler.

So where does that leave Tay and Paige?
This is probably the most baffling way they could take this?

Maybe if Kazarian wasn't so rarely on TV, anyway, this would hit harder, but this feels a lot more like, "Who gives a shit, though?" territory. Right? It's not as overpowering an issue as the part where Sammy and Tay are faces again, but like... ...does Khan think Frankie Kazarian is over enough that saving him from a beatdown will turn a hated act face? Kazarian? That Frankie Kazarian? Frankie Kazarian is a really good wrestler. I think he's well cast as the kind of guy who'll job to the new hotness, but with enough skill that the new hotness can actually flex. But, uh. He has never had that kind of connection to AEW's audience, even at the very peak of his Elite Hunter gimmick when he was getting solid pops before he was sacrificed to Luke Gallows for no reason except I guess making sure one of the Impact stars got an actual win. The people who have an audience connection to where they could pull that off are like...Adam Page, Eddie Kingston, John Silver, Danhausen, Wardlow, Ruby Soho? (Hook would be on there, but I think an angle like this would eat into some of the qualities that keep him over.) It could maybe work with quirky underdogs who haven't had a big break yet, which is why beating Willow Nightingale was enough to turn audiences against Red Velvet. At any rate, it is adamantly not something that can be pulled off with an established veteran who was arguably overpushed for a minute and gets very tepid reactions most of the time.

If Tony wants Sammy and Tay to be faces again, split them up. Even he said that they can get cheered on their own but not together. And no one is really demanding that this whole story keep going.

It's really weird to me that WWE was way quicker to get the message that Seth and Becky don't click together and that wasn't even going nearly as bad as the Sammy and Tay thing, it was just kind of awkward.

Sky was finally interesting and *pooooooooof*
Sammy and Tay are better as heels, running them back as faces after all of this is just dumb and is dragging everyone down quite a few pegs.

That, and/or having Sammy help Santino/Ortiz since Jericho could get Sammy cheered, but still, it just feels like a fool's errand.
