I feel the match was good enough to get it's own appreciation thread. I'm one who complains about AEW pacing at times, but these two got a chance to show what they could do and they deliver

Great match. The ending sequence was a little bit sloppy but even that worked to the match's advantage since Storm and Hayter were beating the piss out of each other rather than trying to put on a crisp wrestling showcase.

Just a wonderful match, these two brought it and more. That finishing sequence was great too
Toni and Jamie bring up the workrate in this division tenfold. You can put them with anyone and I think they'll carry them to a good match if need be or just have a banger with another great woman's wrestler of their caliber.
I know people were down on Toni Storm for her WWE run... but this is what a Toni Storm without restrictions looks like. This is why everyone loved her in Stardom... she's really f***ing good when she's given actual matches, allowed to be herself, and isn't given storylines where she gets pied in the face twice, and mopes about it.

I wish it had gotten a few more minutes. But it was great regardless. You could see the Japan influence with how they were stiffing TF out of each other.

AEW's women's division really feels like it's starting to turn a corner, with matches like Riho/Yuka and this one. Rosa/Deeb has been a pretty good, old school, "challenger wants the belt" kind of story too, so if that match delivers it will really be the cherry on top of the best couple of months the AEW women's division has had in my opinion.

They need to finally start doing more with Hayter. It feels like she’s bei Been on the cusp of breaking out as a big star on her own for a long time now.
They just need to finally run with it.

As expected, this match delivered.
They started off with a technical exchange, then hit some intense strikes on each other after that.
I also liked Hayter's super DDT near the end.

Toni looks like she’s having a lot more fun now (she admitted to being pretty miserable later on in WWE). And she looks to be in better shape now as well perhaps?

It was a solid match. Hayter is so good when she isn't relegated to being Britt's muscle. Toni looked great too. They complemented each other really well with a mix of power and technical skill.

I would've liked to see them go even longer.

Yeah it only being 9 minutes, some of that in commercial, was the only disappointing part.

I wanted them to get more time, it felt longer than it was in a good way
Just wait until Jamie finally gets an actual feud and match with mic time.

Really enjoyed it, loved the relatively out of nowhere finish, that Hayter got flustered and caught.

The best match in either tournament thus far. Hard hitting and an amazing showcase for both women and a sign of what they can do.

If there's a good part of them not going too long, it's that it likely adds juice to a rematch down the line, perhaps with even higher stakes attached.
But seriously, I wish we had more matches across the entire wrestling landscape that were just 10-12 minute sprints of brutality. Take two wrestlers who in kayfabe just want to tear one another apart and have them go Ishii/Shibata on one another for a few minutes, don't allow the crowd to catch a breath, and have both come out of it looking like they just nearly committed a homicide. Storm and Hayter did well just allowing their resentment towards one another to bubble whenever they were on screen together; didn't need any more build then that, "I hate something about this person, I think I'm going to throw them as hard as possible to the floor" works for me.

Storm's Piledriver reminds me of Foley's. Also Hayter is damn good hoss. She just puts power into anything she does. Like a Terry Gordy, I wanna say.

Great match, thought both looked good and they both worked in a way that made it seem like they wanted to actually win a wrestling match. The way they kept rushing to get each other back in the ring and stuff was a good touch
I liked it was nine minutes, not that I noticed at the time, not everyone benefits from more time, these two put on a much better match just going at each other, hard strikes, big moves, clever finish, done.
One question though, did it look to anyone else like Hayter had been crying before the match? Maybe just me but I thought I saw it on her face/in her eyes, and then it felt like that were purposely not really showing her face after spots like wrestling shows usually do
I'm probably wrong though haha just thought I'd ask if anyone else felt the same

I agree with this thought in principle, my issue is that I think AEW occasionally has skewed time management priorities. The women's match being 9 minutes just makes it a bit glaring how much more time most of the men's matches get. Other matches they have seem to climax for like five minutes too long, although that was mainly a problem in the early days.

Personnel matters in this case, I think: Storm and Hayter put together seem built for that kind of sprint, and it makes them both look strong. Do it with a different combination of talent and it possibly doesn't click the same way.
