Whether good or bad, this whole snafu’s been what’s tempted me to order this thing the most lol Tonight (and the fallout) is going to be very interesting. Same, only thing I'm genuinely curious about. Has anyone said they're no longer ordering the show?

But don’t you know MJF is killing his star power? Who exactly do you think these actions are supposed to raise his stock with? The group of fans who want to tell another group of fans "Haha, you're not smart enough to see he's working you, bro!", apparently.

So 20 pages worth of engagement in 12 hours on one message board is bullshit Not all attention is actually good attention. Lots of wrestling promotions have found that out the hard way. If it is a work, AEW won't collapse or anything but they should really reign this in and not pull something like it again. Vince is wrong. Bad press is not always better than no press.

Anyone thinking WWE won’t give him exactly what he wants is fooling themselves. Everyone will tell me I’m wrong, fine, but when the dust finally settles MJF is going to be getting a huge contract from someone. I hope everyone is ready to own up to it when it happens. He is a student of wrestling history. The guy studies the territories relentlessly. He’s not acting like the wrestling stars of the last 20 years, he’s taking cues from Piper, Sheik, Bruiser, etc. MJF is out to make the most money possible, which back in the day, was the only goal.

Also, what they’d rather we be talking about relating to the show in general is “What’s going to happen with Page/Hangman? Will we get some shock title changes?” and not “Will MJF be there? How much will him not being there affect the show?!”

Let's not forget the end of Dixie-era TNA, who at their most captivating could pull huge traffic on the board for deathwatch threads and tapings, but none of that ever became a dime. People would crowd in to dunk on them for Bigfoot Dance Party and meme on their garbage dump-adjacent 'office' but then they would dip and never tune in to watch the show. Attention and success are not the same thing.

If he successfully gets his release, what incentive does WWE have to not lowball him? What other offer is he going to leverage to make sure he gets what he thinks is worth leaving AEW over? If I work in an industry where only four companies pay a living wage, and three of them have deep ties to each other, and I piss off one of those three essentially closing all those doors, did I win? If AEW really wanted to be next level petty they could even screw him with AAA and most of the big Indies by saying "if you want our guys to show up, don't book him".

Regardless of how stupid it would be for his career, some will always have that want to perform in the E...and apparently he was super close with Cody so he's seeing everything Cody is getting and wants to get in while the getting is good for AEW talents... Because let's be honest it's Vince so in 2 years when MJF would be available, Vince could have done an about face and said no to any talents from AEW by that point because a leaf fell on his shoe or some dumb shit like that...

First up, caveat that I hope MJF is well and this isn't down to some health crisis or something like that.
If this is a work, its the stupidest thing I've heard in some time. And I put up with Smackdown.
If it's for real, fire the guy.
I've never been able to stand MJF, his promos annoy me, he does little for me in the ring, and I find the edgy "real" heat beyond irritating. (I also can't stand Dan Lambert.) As someone who watches both major companies, if there is an MJF bidding war, whoever wins, I lose.

WWE wants to show high ranking talent that not only will they be paid handsomely, they will get a great push and treated with respect. Cody is proving it, MJF will reinforce it. Lowballing him will show potential talent that actually the grass isn’t greener.

If AEW really wanted to be next level petty they could even screw him with AAA and most of the big Indies by saying "if you want our guys to show up, don't book him". Posted this part earlier: 1) Would he have leverage to get what he might get in 2024 in open bidding as a free agent? No. but … 2) Would he get more than he’s making now in AEW? Almost certainly. The other thing is, if he’s unhappy he’s unhappy. It may be about money. It may be about something said when he and Khan got into a shouting match over him taking an interview booking without clearing it with the office. It may be because he doesn’t like some people in the locker room. It may be he doesn’t like AEW catering. It may be all of these things or a combination of the above and other things. But if he isn’t happy and he wants out, that may be all there is to this — not ‘I want more money and am doing this so I can max leverage in 2024,’ just ‘I hate coming to work every day.’

If this is work. Who is getting worked? The fans? not really imo most know MJF shitck and 24/7 heeling.
So if fans aren't being worked ala Bryan and his stuck knee. what's the point even more heat for MJF. Again does he need that? No is my answer.
Also f***ing people over on a meet and greet as a work would be incredibly stupid imo because now how could you 100% trust a AEW meet and greet if a wrestler/Tony feels like working them and doesn't show up? Not to be malicious, but because they really want the work fans to "help" a storyline (in the workers head). You're just f***ing over people.

Has CM Punk tweeted his support yet? I know Punk had good intentions with his tweet but I couldn't help thinking it would backfire on him at some stage. Because from what we can see, there's no defending MJF here.

Lowballing him will show potential talent that actually the grass isn’t greener. Cody, and I can't stress this enough, finished his contract and negotiated in good faith before respectfully bowing out with no hard feelings, taking a break, and then getting the moment he wanted. Had Cody felt WWE's offer wasn't satisfactory, he could have gone back to AEW, NJPW, Impact, and/or the Indies and still made a very comfortable living. MJF is making it so he isn't going to have those options. Absolutely nothing about Cody's exit parallels what MJF is doing now. The situations just are not the same.

If I never hear another pained discussion about what’s a work and what’s not again, it’ll be too soon.

Really, if this is MJF in a rush to get out of his contract, he's not too bright since WWE can now put down any low offer for him and he'll either have to take it or...well...
