In the streaming age or even in just the DVD/Blu-ray age it’s amazing the access we have to SO MUCH content.
But back in the days of VHS tapes plenty of retail VHS tapes lasted an hour or less. Major emphasis on the LESS in some cases.
Inspired by coming across a VHS copy of Ninja Rap by Vanilla Ice on eBay. It’s runtime is 6 minutes and it’s selling for $150. It also earned eBay’s great price label.

There were tapes of cartoon shows that consisted of one episode of the show in question.

Sometimes they would send these things in the mail to advertise something.
Back in the summer of '90, my dad tried to record Raiders of the Lost Ark off TV, except he grabbed a tape without looking (this is back when recordable tapes far outweighed any movies we'd buy). Anyways, the video he grabbed only had about 30 minutes on it, so that's all I would be able to watch as a kid. Not only that, he was late when starting, so the "movie" begins at the moment they're entering the cave and ends right at the moment before Indy starts knocking over baskets.
It actually created that true serial aspect to it, which made me more apprecitive when I was able to afford to buy the movie several years later.
However, I do wish I still owned that video from my childhood, as well as some of the other things I recorded, especially if I included the commercials. Nothing like having that 'moment in time' saved.

The Madonna "Justify My Love" music video VHS release has just the video on it which is under 4 minutes.

I remember a Power Rangers Magazine gave away a blank VHS tape for free so you could record one 25-minute episode of the show every weekend, of course it meant you had to keep recording over the one you saved from the week before...

I remember a Metal Gear Solid 2 trailer/hype VHS being given away with a magazine.
Not sure how long it was but of course was just from the tanker section so can't have been too long.

There were tapes of cartoon shows that consisted of one episode of the show in question. Yeah, I had a bunch of GI Joe, Transformers, and Ninja Turtle ones. Back in those days it was almost unthinkable to own a complete series. They used to have commercials for very popular shows like the original Star Trek where you could subscribe to own the whole series over time. I found this old Columbia House commercial: This one jams a whopping 2 episodes on one VHS. I guess to cut down on how many tapes someone would have to buy so they theoretically could own the whole series easier. And only 2 episodes would allow them to keep the tapes SP rather than 4 or 6 hours which would diminish the quality. The first 2 episode VHS is advertised as $4.95, but that doesn’t include shipping and handling. Plus, they probably jack up the price from the second VHS forward.

When I subscribed to Nintendo Power, the company sent me a making-of video to promote Donkey Kong Country.
I remember watching two short videos from Disney promoting their parks and resorts.
WCW released three best-of videos featuring highlights of various matches: Deadly Venom - The Best of Sting, Rick Rude Raw, and New Blood on the Block. Each tape was around a half-hour.

One of the VHS tapes I still have is my copy of Hardware Wars (a wonderfully low budget spoof of Star Wars). It comes in at a whopping 20 minutes.

I remember one time a friend of mine got a VHS tape in the mail. Apparently it was a pilot for sitcom that they were supposed to comment on to see if they liked it. We watched it together, it was horrible. Lol

There was a G.I. Joe action figure that came with a video tape in 1995, which had a single episode explaining the new Joe story they wanted to tell after the Real American Hero line ended.

I remember those WCW videos from Suncoast and maybe Sam Goody. I got them as a kid but never checked the run time until an adult. It's surprising they were only 30 minutes. There was a lot of action on those videos. They also represent some of the best of WCW at the time.

Going back to the Coliseum Video route, the shortest tape they made was "We're the New York Giants". It was a charity tape and it only ran 20 minutes. It was during the time where everyone and their mother was ripping off the Chicago Bears and "The Super Bowl Shuffle".

IIRC that was SGt Savage and was the only episode made of that cartoon. There is piles of VHS of PD cartoons that are 20 to 30 minutes tops. I never had many ass a kid, mostly cause there were not that common back then. But have gotten a pile over the last decade.

Savage! I actually really liked that one-off. It was kind of tone deaf, feeling retro even by 1995 standards given where the decade was going. But I enjoyed it, certainly much better than GI Joe Extreme. It looks like you can still get the original figure/VHS bundle on eBay for $13. I also had that Donkey Kong Country VHS that was mailed free that was mentioned earlier ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Did anyone else feel obligated to buy Donkey Kong Country after that? I mean I was a little kid so I almost never got mail. But I got that specifically addressed to me which is kind of weird in retrospect. Anyway, I enjoyed the Donkey Kong games so I can’t complain.

He didn’t do the dance associated with that song though.
