When he first won the wwe title against Cena in 09 it was a very confusing and random moment. He is obviously a great midcard talent but do you think it was the right move to strap him up several times?

At this point he's a guy that can be put in a main event program, but nobody will believe that he's going to carry a world title again. He did great in his program with Drew McIntyre and could work with Roman in a minor live event.

He wasn't ready in 2009-10. By 11-12 he was but the Daniel Bryan 18 seconds thing put a damper on his title reign. He kinda salvaged it in the end with those surprisingly great matches with Big Show though.
He's good enough to main event but he's not a top guy. Mostly upper midcard but credible enough he can challenge for or even win a world title without it seeming too weird. I would put The Miz in that category too.

At one point absolutely. Those days are certainly behind him but heavily decorated upper midcarder who has a job for life isn't a bad place to be either.

The dood has been the most consistent in ring talent they have had on the main roster since his return all those bangers with riddle and McIntyre.
He isn't a guy that you will build a company around but you can strap him now for a short window with the world title and he will fit like a glove but the key here is a short 2-3 month window.

At no point he was.
He is the definition of a solid midcarder

Yes. You know what you get with Sheamus and he’s been credible and has the look of a main event talent
Is he a guy you build around? No. But you know he can counted on for a 2-3 month stretch

I don't see him less credible in any era there ever was or will be. He's a timeless talent. Does that mean he's a main event talent? I don't know. He's good enough to not feel out of place, but his programs always fell flat when he was champion.

Yes, not a guy you build around but someone who can be slotted in there when required. Certainly way above the likes of Del Rio, Swagger and Jinder.
But they went too early and did things backwards. If he stayed mid-card, became beloved tag guy and then main eventer things might have been played out differently.

I think he absolutely could have been with the proper presentation but he never really got it.

He was, and he absolutely could be again in a pinch.
It's a damn shame to think from the Bar onward, he's been booked the way he always should have been. The last 2 years of his work have been *outstanding*, which given his health at one point, is crazy to consider

I think he’s as good as he’s ever been right now and could easily be in the main event if they so wanted.
His entire Bar run and beyond (basically after it was reported his career was basically dead) has been really good.

I like Sheamus. IRL he appears to be a chill dude living his best life without being obnoxious.
He's like Kane at this point - a dependable big guy who can slot into the main event with credibility while the company figures out the next big thing.

I never really seen him that way, and their attempt at making him a top guy at the expense of Bryan pretty much killed him for years before The Bar got him back on track. I respect his talents, but wouldn’t imagine him a four time world champ.

I mean, his coronation as champion came out of nowhere. They barely built him up prior to beating Cena, and then the match itself was just such a fluky win anyways. He then goes on to lose to Triple H at WrestleMania, then won the title again out of nowhere, only to then get punked by Nexus when he encountered them.
After this, they started to treat him a little better, but he's always one of those guys I think about if he was around in the 80's or 90's, he'd easily be a top guy in any company. Unfortunately during the mid 2000's and 2010's, the only guys who WWE put serious focus on were Cena, Orton, Triple H and occasionally Undertaker.

Idk, but he does seem to have somewhat of an under appreciated career Couldn’t agree more. Even with four world titles, several other titles and an excellent run with Cesaro (in one of my favourite teams of the 21st century so far) you could say he’s had enough appreciation but I think he deserves more. He’s similar to Kane. He’s constantly been over and had good matches yet he was around in a period where there were four or five wrestlers who over-shone the rest of the talent. Edit : Just seen someone else comparing him to Kane.

A Permanent main-eventer always on top? No.
A guy who can have runs in the main event to keep the main event from always being the same couple guys, and not look out of place? Absolutely.

I'd say, yeah, I think of him as someone who has been a main event talent, albeit a guy who can comfortably work the midcard, too. On that front, he's not dissimilar to Orton, albeit not on quite the same rung.

He's Irish Jeff Jarrett to me. A very good worker with some charisma who can be in the main event scene but should never be THE guy on either the face or the heel side.
