I enjoyed the match last night. Me too except for the ending Rosas kicks looked so weaker than Mei s it shouldn't have stunned and ended it

The cycle of someone having one bad match and then it's just 'Hey maybe they've always been not good' is a cruel one. The match was fine. Rosa's been a bit shaky but 'off' is a far cry from 'was never actually good, you hallucinated all those things where they were good'.

I have felt that a lot of women's matches in the Q7 death slot tend to be bad in a very specific way, regardless of the wrestlers. An opening that's too fast and too full of spots, and probably a sequence or two that was a bit too ambitious. Just generally a feeling of 20 minutes worth of Big Stuff squished into a ten minute time slot. I feel like that's been a problem with Penelope Ford, Tay Conti, Nyla Rose, Red Velvet, and Hikaru Shida. Britt Baker, Anna Jay, and Jade actually work better in the time constraints because they tend to only do ten minutes worth of stuff in ten minutes.

One of the biggest issues is the only woman they trust to carry a feud on the mic is Britt, they've tried with others and other than Jade they die that slow death in front of the crowd.

I was saying Rosa wasn't that good before she even touched the title, I have no idea what took everyone so long to come around lol.
She's OK in the ring when she has a better opponent, and way worse than that at everything else. Not a great talker, no real gimmick or personality beyond "Mexican lady who paints half her face for reasons."
I hear she's very nice and great for PR, maybe find her a role that focuses on those things. I just don't think wrestling at a high level is meant to be her destiny.

Isn’t Rosa working through injuries? I thought that was a thing when she won the title in the first place.

Isn’t Rosa working through injuries? I thought that was a thing when she won the title in the first place. That's been the excuse to justify her poor performances ever since she won the belt. If she's injured this long, she shouldn't be champ (this is a TK problem) If she's not - like many have said already, she's just not that good.

No no, if someone has an off night or doesn't gel with an opponent (or gets accused of sandbagging opponents via vague tweets from an uninvolved third party), it means they were Always Bad. I guarantee you we'll get at least a couple comments, if not a full thread, on this board about how Kenny Omega wasn't ever as good as Meltzer et. al. claimed him to be if he shows even the slightest bit of ring rust upon his return.

Rosa is legit one of the best female wrestlers in the US. The match last night was fine. Not amazing like we were hoping but it was good. Promos are not her strong point but she has that firery charisma that works.

I'm surprised seeing the match get so much hate. I thought it was fine last night.

I didn't think the match was really anything other than average, and while I don't think Rosa is great in the ring I certainly don't think she's bad. Still think the booking of the reign has been total trash and would prefer someone else as champion though.

I should point out that I liked the match.
It feels like the match is more, divisive, than flat out hated from what I’ve seen.
They’ve GOT TO give Rosa more to work with if they want to keep the belt on her however. Jade is presented like such a bigger deal right now.

Even not getting into me not liking her as a performer, it's tiresome how no one is ever allowed to get the slightest bit of a leg-up on her and their approach to building up to these big showdowns with Athena and Statlander are, "Everyone keeps talking about doing the matches but there's no urgency about actually getting around to them and every week she kicks their asses."

I can only offer a live perspective but the match was clunky in the beginning and they kind of seemed lost. Once it kicked into gear it was good.
I’m a huge Rosa mark but this title run is doing her no favors. It’s time to put the strap on Statlander.

I'm surprised seeing the match get so much hate. I thought it was fine last night. I think it's largely because Rosa's reign has been so lifeless, with no momentum for wherever it could go next (who does she even have as a viable next challenger, Tay Conti who hasn't wrestled in a quarter to half a year? Jamie Hayter who just brings Britt back along into it?), that the reign lives or dies on the matches being very good or at least feeling important. This match definitely didn't feel important, all respect to any logistical difficulties that may have been involved in booking it, so it was either excellent or it was kind of nothing, and while not bad outside of a clunky start, it was certainly not excellent.

I mean I agree. This Athena/Statlander feud is getting dragged out too long and they’ve never been able to get the upper hand on Jade herself (and she never acts like she’s worried about them at all). My pount is more she’s PRESENTED as a big deal by the company in a way that no other women, aside from maybe Britt, is.

Rosa's match was solid, I think people got punch drunk on her lights-out match. She carries the title well, we should get more fast pace bouts with the partnership with stardom.

The "Kenny isn't that good, he's overhyped" people have already swarmed around and I expect them to return again once he's active again and act like if he's even kind of off, it's a sign he was never ever good and was always overhyped or some shit. And then he'll have great matches and shake off his rust and it'll still go on for some weirdo reason.

I said in the live thread last night there seemed to be a lot of “start move…execute move” against Miyu. It didn’t take away too much, but either Rosa, Miyu or both seemed to be a step off each other.
As for Rosa’s reign, I think she’s just missing an actual feud. She seemed to work better when things seemed “personal” like it was against Britt.

Also this is an aside and very much getting into 'ugh, Britt' territory, but. The sandbag thing would be a lame attempt at being cute if not for the fact Britt liking those tweets was what started that shitstorm in the first place. I really need Thunder Storm to run into drama and split so she can have an actual story with meat against someone who isn't Britt. Everything Rosa's doing of any real, actual merit is just through the lens of that one match from forever ago and she feels stagnant.
