I mean, I get it. You just came back and don't want to be seen as unreliable so quickly and lose whatever chance you ever had at a monster push...
...but this is too much.

I’m going to wait till we hear more from actual medical professionals but I have to assume they were like “it can’t get much worse structurally” which is why he went through with it. Basically where I'm at. Would I have wrestled if I were in his position? No. Would I have let him if it were up to me? f*** no. But ... wrestling is not like other businesses. Guys wrestle injured in every company and even minor injuries are at risk of getting worse. Just have to wait to see what's reported. Could be a case of it looking way worse than it was, though I'm skeptical. But they've also called off/cancelled matches due to injuries, so I doubt they were pushing him to. I can't rag on Cody much; he's the one who has to do the healing/rehab so I'm sure he'll know more than anyone how dumb it was if it indeed got worse.

This is WWE, where a match can and does simply vanish off of PPV cards for a myriad of reasons, and where scripts are sometimes not finalized during the airing of a show. And this time of all times, they just have to see a match through? Insanity. Recklessness. That's unbelievably irresponsible and it shouldn't have happened even if Cody really super wanted it to. Cody's developing a real track record that dudes who still go in their sixties and take stuff, unprotected chair shots leave everyone wincing over. This is insane. Dude's got a child, there's no reason to be doing that to his body. Gonna assume docs told him it can’t get any worse structurally and he’s probably scheduled for surgery this week already. "It can't get any worse" is still unforgivably, unbelievably deranged reasoning and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

I think my only other thought on the topic is that wrestlers should trust their bodies. Cody doing this doesn’t mean everybody has to do it.

That tattoo no longer is Cody's dumbest decision.

In the camp that he should not have done it and I feel like they should have never did the match
Glad again, that Seth and Cody pulled it off, but I am not a fan of the "RESPECT CODY FOR THAT MATCH" "FIVE STARS" stuff I'm seeing, it's hard for me to respect any of what just happened, it was uncomfortable and it went on way to long and Cody's bruising visibly got worse.
And now Cody's done for months, who knows how long. If he doesn't come back and immediately beat Roman for a belt when he's healthy, this was pointless, because what the f*** do you do that for otherwise other than to prove you can be a "top guy"? If he doesn't get the rocket, then I don't get the point. I didn't get the point of him meandering with Rollins and Miz for months to begin with but he did.
I just never want to see something like this again, I don't want this to set some precedent going forward. I hope people realize how f***ing dumb it was and how crazy Cody is... this is NOT how people should be going out trying to prove how tough they are or how they deserve their spot or whatever, it's just not worth risking f***ing up an already f***ed injury on a B-PPV with no stakes and openly knowing you aren't wrestling for a long time afterward.
I hope in the end it's just all good and Cody didn't make anything worse... but as I said, please, PLEASE don't ever do that again. Not a good decision, not something I'm going to praise, just... hope Cody comes back better and that gamble paid off.

"It can't get any worse" is still unforgivably, unbelievably deranged reasoning and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. It’s fairly common in medical practice for someone with an injury that’s a complete tear of something (knee, elbow, shoulder, etc) to be cleared to do activity before it’s fixed via surgery, since the injury itself can’t get worse. You won’t see it in real sports because your performance is hindered but obviously in a worked sport like wrestling that’s not as crucial. Not saying that’s definitely the case here with his injury as we only have the details WWE reported, which could be kayfabed:

Sadly that's sports mindset People will tear something and if they can play through it, they will if it is said that it can't get any worse. Joel Embiid got his orbital bone fractured and rested for a few days and played. Wrestling is a diff beast as far as having to take care your opponent so can really only wait and see how bad the damage really is To be clear, I don't think he should have wrestled but I am hoping he did not f*** himself over more wrestling

At least when you've got a hideous blood bruise sploch growing over half your body, the tattoo no longer stands out as particularly garish.

Cody went nearly 25 minutes in god damned Hell in a Cell with his tiddy Grimace purple. On one hand his pain threshold, holy shit, on the other hand, Cody, buddy, you definitely didn’t need to do that…

Surely doing anything physically demanding before upcoming surgery is unwise? If he'd gotten a cut, or an infection, or a concussion or anything unrelated to the pec it could cause complications and/or delay his surgery.
