I knew every match wasn’t going to be in the cage but goddamn! I watched with some casuals and they were so confused/disappointed.

In all honesty though the Main Event was the only one where HIAC felt needed. Maybe Judgment Day v Balor/Styles/Morgan at a stretch but I was ok with there only being one last night personally speaking.

I honestly think it was the right thing to do. When you have 2-3 matches in the cell, it feels less special.

Looking at you HIAC and TLC(s!)… MITB and Elimination Chamber can fill the need for bloodlust, then you can fill in appropriate gimmick matches when shit actually applies to the situation and not just shoehorn it into something because it’s that time of year again.

I don't think the Cody vs. Seth feud really deserved it either, but at least it sounds like it was a great match.

Out of all the matches on the card it was the only one where I felt that it kinda made a bit of sense at least. As far as the match is concerned, if Cody wasn't hurt I'd have said it was an ok match but nothing more. Given Cody's injury it gets a bit of a higher mark given how much less Cody would've been able to do otherwise.

I assume there would've been some top of the Cell antics had Cody not been hurt, because he'd absolutely want to do that spot no question.

I agree that one HIAC match is fine but I also think they shouldn't call it Hell in a Cell in the first place.

Now that you mention it, is TLC done for good? We didn't have one this past December. If we did, TLC and HIAC would like be the only PPVs that had started at the end of the 2000s and lasted through the '10s to now. Technically it did because we had TLC 2020, but that was the last one to date. Hell in a Cell should usually be reserved for the ultimate blow-off. We had that at Crown Jewel. It doesn't always have to be done at a PPV of that name. Even way back when, I wondered if the Hell in a Cell PPV was done because TNA had Lockdown, except the concept of an "all steel cage PPV" actually worked.

Heck even TNA didnt intend to do an all steel cage match PPV. Lockdown was originally announced as having just 2 cage matches. But TNA had to put up the cage the old fashioned way and it always ground the show to a halt. So they said screw it and made it all cage.

My friends were constantly wondering when Helena was going to finally show up. Then I remembered that I have no friends and am dealing with a bad cold/flu.

They could so easily book to the Cell. They know it is coming a year ahead every year. Just book some feuds! There should be no need for shoehorning

Y'all are ungrateful.
If Vince had gotten his original intent through, we would've had an annual Fart On A Cart event.

Agreed. Hell In A Cell and TLC should be feud enders. If they are gonna have a Ladder Match gimmick PPV, it should be Money In The Bank. That plus TLC is overkill. And, Elimination Chamber works much better as a gimmick PPV than Hell In A Cell. It's hard to organically use the EC for a feud.
