Unfortunately this is the best quality photo I can find. But he came back looking like 1996-97 Bulldog. Did he look out of place to you? They quickly moved him away to the jeans look. I thought he looked fine and it made him stand out. Once he went to the jeans all his charisma was gone.

He looked more out of place with the jeans. The colorful attire was a much better choice, especially if he was going to play a heel.

Yeah the jeans were awful.should have kept him in the classic Bulldog attire but i get the thinking behind it.They had moved totally away from the new generation colourful era to the dark grungy Attitude Era

If they wanted to make him grittier just give him black version of those tights sans tassels.

I feel like Bulldog was a guy who was really mostly over when working with one of the family members. He and Dynamite were pretty over until Dynamite's back injury took them out of the tag title spot. As a single he pretty much was stuck in a year long feud with Warlord over who was stronger. His match from Wrestlemania VIII was cut but all of a sudden he's in the main event at Summerslam with Bret. Then gone by Survivor Series. When he came back in 94 he floundered for a year until being added in a feud with Bret, then floundering again until the Owen tag team. 2 years from 1997 to 1999 was like an eternity for Bulldog and he was out of place. His WCW runs weren't much better. Sting nor Vader nor Rude could really help him. As many have said in threads, he was a "follower" of guys like Dynamite and Owen. If he had no one from the family to "follow" and give him the lead he just never accomplished much.

I enjoyed his title program with Shawn in 96, especially at King of the Ring. That one was good but there was no real huge backstory. WWF just rushed the storyline and like most times he chased a belt, Bulldog came up short. It's hard to get behind a guy when he rarely could win during the big moments. His run with Vader in WCW was cool but he still would come up short. He was the only face not to win at a Clash.

He may have been wearing the Union Jack gear but physically and especially in the face, he didn’t look anything like 97 Bulldog. He looked exactly like a man who’d had a rough couple of years and a few more on top.

Funny, I watched Rebellion 1999 recently and I remembered that he had a presence for only a month in 1999. Also, the funny thing about those tights he wore at Unforgiven that year, I remember renting Wrestlemania XII weeks before and noticing those tights he wore were the exact same ones he wore at Unforgiven.

What I meant was that he was in main event-level feud for about a month from September to October, and afterwards he was just in the mid-card as the European champion and paired with the Mean Street Posse for some odd reason.

Bulldog in jeans should have been something instantly forgettable but because it was so jarring and very much part of my nostalgia for the AE, it's actually the first thing that comes to mind for me when I think of Davey Boy, which on reflection is quite sad.

Bulldog always looked best in trunks to me. I never liked his tights or when he had braids. Even if they wanted to get away from him wearing the Union Jack, I don't think he needed to switch to jeans...that was definitely the worst.

He deserved a world title run. He should have beat HBK in 96.

He deserved a world title run. He should have beat HBK in 96. no way Shawn was getting a short title reign. For better or worse, that was his time.
