I can't embed SRS's tweet due to forum rules but it claims that after his Smackdown appearance, Vince returned backstage and yelled "f*** EM" and that really says it all. Yes but I wonder if the newer allegations coming to light now will get some to be able to convince him to step away for real this time. Maybe not but I think it does change things. The prior allegations were still problematic with it being a supervisor-subordinate “consensual” relationship but these newest allegations about allegedly forcing/coercing a talent to give oral sex and then demoting her and releasing her and paying $7.5 million 13 years later is an entirely different ballgame.

Just one thing to note for decency’s sake… The article notes a timeframe for the release of the former female wrestler alleged to have been involved in this, one that makes it unfairly easy to potentially identify who that may be. Unless they themselves give consent to be identified through a reliable and credible source, any discussion about speculating who they may be will be removed and posters may be subject to warnings by moderators. Wouldn’t the female wrestler be breaking her NDA if she says something? NDAs were never meant to cover illegal activity and may not even be enforceable if they are meant to prevent whistleblowing on stuff like this. McDevitt would be the first to tell Vince that something like this would be sketchy as hell to enforce if push came to shove.

The "Vince will never pay the piper" attitude, I think, has come from a general sense that no scandal he's ever gotten into could mean much. They'd get minor play on like B tier publications at best. John Oliver's show running them through mud was neat to see, but his show highlights the unsightly elements of tons of stuff and rarely do calls to action there mean much, it's just awareness unless someone fights back and makes an ass of themselves. It's never broken through in any meaningful way. WWE's mainstream press ends up in publications they have good relations with, to get puff pieces in Variety and stuff. This is new ground. The thing that Vince supposedly hates (being seen as just "that wrestling guy") has been the thing that has spared him through pretty much every scandal in the past. I doubt this is how he wanted the wider world to take notice of him.

Edit: To be clear, not endorsing her saying this as it's unclear if it's an accusation/belief on her part or her just saying something, just thought it would be worth sharing since it was said in relation to the news coming out.

Tough day for those couple people who thought Vince would be vindicated in the end.

This is either tasteless or damning accusation and it's tough to get a read on which.

I think he's too stubborn to do that willingnly, but I think if some pressure starts coming down on him, it may be enough to push him.

Still...she may have a broader point there.

I’m not saying Netflix has a spotless track record and they’d have a right to say much but with them needing any excuse to save money and cut costs, the McMahon biopic would be the easiest thing to get rid of as an example. And heck, NBC Universal fired one their longest employed executives because of a workplace relationship and that was high profile so it’s up to them if they decide not to say anything in all this considering.

Wonder if WWE sponsors would get cold feet with associating with a company run by a sex pest if the allegations intensify.

I'm seriously convinced someone wants the McMahons out of this company. Shane gets fired, Steph steps away (both get bad-mouthed on their way out) & now this stuff leaks about Vince. I reckon someone wants this company sold, & sees the McMahons as an obstacle to that sale.

Seems like a pretty standard press release, which is really all it should be.

I should think this is it for him now.
Even if these allegations aren't as bad as they look - and they look really f'ing bad - and even if they are all money grabbers trying to get cash - he still paid, and if you pay, you look guilty even if you never did anything.
There is no way he can ever come back given this, unless they crack open the NDAs and head to court to prove it was different to the allegations, and even then that mud will stick.
The biggest question now is if he's forced out altogether, creative too.
Them's the breaks Vince, them's the breaks....

We’re looking at the biggest blow to Vince’s castle fortifications since the early 90s. Regardless of the outcome, this is a bad scar for both him and the industry being opened up. The public attitudes towards this are going to change the biz in many ways, I predict.

Wonder if WWE sponsors would get cold feet with associating with a company run by a sex pest if the allegations intensify. I think they may have insulated themselves from a bit of the pressure by having Vince publicly stepping down temporarily as Chairman/CEO, as many media entities reported on that without realizing that he’d still be in complete control of creative. Of course, he didn’t make it easy to hide himself when he paraded himself on TV.

There's been so much shocking wrestling news in the past year or so but Vince finally leaving, by his own choice or not, would be the most shocking and welcome news of all.

Looking at it from a different angle, John Cena's team of people must be tearing their hair out that he was seen on screen with Mcmahon only last week.
I don't see for example Dwayne Johnson going anywhere near WWE any time soon.

I reckon someone wants this company sold, & sees the McMahons as an obstacle to that sale. Vince owns around 70% of voting stock. Even if he is forced to step away from running the company he still owns it. You cannot just take that stock from him. The only way the company can be sold is if he sells it.
