Good question. It's definitely a spectacle in the same fashion Mankind vs Undertaker was, but that isn't necessarily the same thing as being "great". I'd say it's probably comfortably somewhere in the top ten, maybe breaking into the top five.

IDK about now, but for a long time there was a pretty big portion of the fan base who LOVED Brock/Taker from 02.

It's personally my all time fave cell match, with HHH/Cactus second. Mankind/Taker is just... it's own thing. Awesome but in a different universe.

One of my personal top 5 is Charlotte/Sasha. It was epic at the time and it holds up.


I remember New Day/Usos getting a ton of love, but I need to go back and watch this one.

It's too early to tell, but Shawn and Undertaker set a precedent with the first one being so good. Foley and Undertaker definitely created a shock value we hadn't seen before. Foley helped fully establish Triple H with a brutal match. Brock and Undertaker was brutal in its own right, so after that I think it's possible it's the best one besides those. And considering most Cell matches are incredibly forgettable, it's the best one in close to 20 years.

It's too bad it's become an annual match. So many times it's used as filler, so the matches don't provide any memorable value. It should be reserved for feuds like Seth and Cody, given they knew exactly what kind of match to put forward.

It's one of those things that happened early, like them doing Mankind vs Kane on some random Raw when the matches were still pretty new. That one even ended in a no contest. Naturally, no one tends to remember it since they oversaturated the match at the time and it was a shitty late '90s non-finish.

I liked it.

That being said my favourite hell in a cell matches will always be the early ones which felt like pure brutality. You're in the cell as a feud ender or a punishment, not as some obligation to a PPV name.

It's not even Top 10 for me honestly.

It's better than the "filler" HIAC's we've been getting since around 2009 or so like Orton/Sheamus, Punk/Taker, Legacy/DX etc but it's nowhere close to Mankind/Taker, HBk/Taker, HHH/Taker, Foley/HHH, even Cena/Orton from 2014 and New Day/Usos was better from a few years ago IMO
