Personally I enjoyed the match, but I was watching from the crowd where shitty timed camera cuts weren't a thing.

I feel like the Nightmare Collective would be a more obvious and perhaps more fitting first induction.

What a thin and overstretched roster back then, how things change.
The CBRs show progress in that they've progressively gotten better. I still think (and hope) that AEW's signature match, their version of The Rumble or King of the Mountain is yet to be invented.

I really dont think the Casino BR is that bad. Slightly better than a Battle Royale but not by much

I've gotten used to them, but I'm still not completely sold on them.

I never saw the Casino Battle Royal... but man, the competitors in it truly showed how thin the roster was back then
how times have changed

They've changed the rules just enough where I feel it flows better, and you get better entrance pops
Nightmare Collective, hell the Cody/Ogogo feud, to me were far worse.

How can you hate a match that Glacier is in?

Funny how they commented on the Cracker Barrel match at the end despite it being a really fun match.
As for the first battle royal.... Yeah it was pretty terrible. A lot of nobodies and only a handful of people who could logically win, though we all knew Page was winning since, at the time, it felt like they were giving him the Reigns push.

The Cracker Barrel branding was also very tongue in cheek. The author of the article almost came off like he was taking it seriously.

I really dont think the Casino BR is that bad. Slightly better than a Battle Royale but not by much That's where I stand. Battle Royals are usually meh with a highlight or two. The CBR will never be as good as a Royal Rumble, but it is never worse than a regular Battle Royal and benefits from having the potential for a few Rumble-esque spots.

It's something I feel like I need to watch again because at the time it didn't particularly feel wrestle crap worthy

Doesn’t deserve it. It was a fun little thing that got a bunch of indie guys a payday, had some enjoyable moments, and the right person won.

Yeah…this article was definitely written by someone who clearly has a disdain for AEW. None of the “jokes” landed, tons of liberties skipping the good parts of the match, an unnecessarily long running obsession with Dustin Thomas (we get it, he’s an amputee…).
Also, this was literally the very first match of the promotion. Yeah, the camera work was goofy as all hell, but the match itself told a story and still had some absolutely great character-making moments for guys like Luchasaurus, Orange Cassidy (seriously, this was the first exposure of him for the vast majority of us), MJF, and ESPECIALLY Adam Page.
I dunno, maybe I’ve outgrown WrestleCrap and it’s frankly horrid takes, but there are dozens of other examples from AEW I’d put in before this, the biggest offenders already being mentioned.

What an odd mix of amusing asides and genuine bullshit. Acey baby has been super over in every match I have seen him in. Also Orange 'main evented a show against Kenny Omega' Cassidy is a novelty act, is he?

Man, I'd care more about AEW's position on a f***ing Cracked article. WrestleCrap is completely irrelevant
