ECW on the other hand didn;t bother with knockoffs, they just stole the original songs themselves That's something that still happens. ICW doesn't stream on Youtube anymore because they got nailed by a record label bot mid-stream. I've seen other promotions remove audio from posted matches to avoid a strike. Heyman at least had the good sense to have some covers on hand in case of problems. MLW is another one that gets away with copyrighted music. Always heard Court Bauer has connections in the music industry, don't know how true that is. Plus Trent Reznor prob'ly doesn't give a damn if his stuff's used.

This was the same theme Christian used in TNA/IMPACT as well, I guess AEW thought that it recognizable enough and worked well for him that they didn't bother to give Cage anything else. Interestingly enough, Rukus did make a cover that AEW used for Christian's debut, but then they immediately switched to the TNA version that they've used ever since.

Yeah, I was about to say, the version they used on his debut is the one on AEW's Music YouTube but the one they have now is the Dale Oliver version. Which, hey, Dale Oliver getting paid is no issue for me.

He's not wrong, though; it's the same theme he's had since he went to TNA, basically an instrumental of "My Last Breath" or whichever one it is. Ah, 2005, the end of the "frosted tips aren't so bad, actually" era. ...wait, that's terrible. It's just funny how the first post presents it as some shocking revelation when it's like "... Yeah we've known this for 17 years give or take." Dale Oliver made Jimmy Hart look like he composed nothing but originals lol. EC3's "Trouble" theme is one of my favorite knockoffs from him (for "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" by Fallout Boy).

I don't remember if this was Dale Oliver or this was Cena's cousin whose name I'm forgetting, but Kurt Angle's TNA theme is pretty much either an instrumental or rap version of "Lunatic Fringe" depending on which one you're listening to.

Kenny Omega's AEW theme uses the beat from this, if I remember right.

Kenny Omega's AEW theme uses the beat from this, if I remember right. (timstamp included) The megaman scene is even in the music video There is a bunch of gaming easter eggs in the lyrics too.not only it says "hopes and dreams" which is the Undertale theme he used for his final NJPW match, pretty sure it uses a sample from it too.

Toni Storm's "Barracuda" knock-off is probably the next most blatant on the AEW roster. The Varsity Blondes' "Welcome to the Jungle" knock-off isn't quite a blatant and has some other sources, but it's clear what it's supposed to sound like. Leyla Hirsch's theme is both a subtler rip-off and a more obscure song, "Miss the Misery" by Halestorm - dunno how many people would catch that at all if it weren't her indy theme for easy comparison. Just wanted to say Halestorm is an awesome band.

Lance Archer/Hoyt had a clone song of Touched by Vast, the original song was also AJ Styles' theme for a bit and one of the themes for WM25.

Jericho using an "Evenflow" knockoff at the same time that Raven was using the Evenflow DDT and wearing grunge shirts was just incredible

Eddie Kingston’s theme is heavily based on DMX’s slipping.
PVZ theme’s hook is based on “California Love”.

ECW on the other hand didn;t bother with knockoffs, they just stole the original songs themselves Didn't Heyman just outright lie about getting the licenses to use them too? But yeah, you can get away with that on the indies. But companies that get big enough to start airing television shows get noticed and you gotta start paying for licensing or hire someone to be an in-house composer.

I really loved James Storm's "Electric Rodeo" ripoff, personally. Shocker's ripoff of "Whatever" was also awesome. But, yeah, in WCW, and TNA especially it's almost harder to name the 100% original themes than the ripoffs. I loved the Stinkfist cover for Christopher Daniels I preferred the Disposable Teens knockoff.

Vince Russo's WCW Iron Man theme is the absolute dirt worst knockoff there is.

Swerve Strickland's AEW theme is a blatant ripoff of Astronaut in the Ocean at the beginning.
