“It wasn’t my call, let’s just say that. The 100% honest truth, I would’ve loved to have saved that for a bigger moment for me and something that selfishly would’ve benefited me, but I think that 100% benefited him and where he’s going. For me, I would’ve loved to save that for maybe a big match with Roman Reigns, or a moment where maybe I’m getting an opportunity to win a world title, and we can use that prior to winning or something like that … it would’ve sat a lot better with me.” “I think it made a special moment for him, and hopefully he appreciates that, and hopefully he knows what it meant to me. It got an unbelievable reaction when he did kick out” “That’s the first-ever, so hopefully now maybe it’s just one person in all of history that will kick out of it, who knows. But yeah, that broke my heart. I mean, that was hard. Because that was kind of my thing, you know, I don’t have a list of titles … it’s unique nowadays to have a finish nobody’s kicked out of, but it made it nearly 10 years.” www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2022/06/happy-corbin-on-wwe-wrestlemania-38-spot-that-broke-my-heart/

In the days of 79 finisher matches, going nearly 10 years is something to be proud of.

Is it still the most protected finisher or is it on par with something else, now? Kinshasa, maybe?

And now the floodgates open. That move will be kicked out of a half-dozen times before the end of the year.

I didn't see the match it happened in but I would agree with Corbin that if we got this far the kickout should happen in the biggest match of his career

Totally get what he’s saying. Comes off very level headed. I remember like half-watching it and I STILL marked out at the end of days kick out.

I get where he's coming from but really at this point how many more World Title or main event single matches is he going to get? At this point he seems very settled in a upper midcard heel. I thought having Drew be the one was fine. I would've given it to Madcap as I think he would've benefitted more from it. However I can understand not giving it to him in case he bombs and as a result him being the one to kick out of EOD is a waste. Playing it safe with Drew is fine as he's a top guy but not to the extent of Reigns or Lesnar where he still benefits from it too.

Like yeah, it was the big spot in what was largely a forgettable Mania match but a finisher that hasn’t been kicked out of (for a guy that’s actually headlined PPV’s!!! Not like he’s some undercard goof) is damn near a unicorn in modern wrestling. Even if you didn’t plan it, probably could have held onto it longer instead of using it up seemingly immediately after realizing the significance.

I actually agree with Corbin here. The Corbin vs Drew feud was a blatant time waster run to give Drew something to do until the time came for him to start feuding with Roman. They could have saved the first kickout for something that mattered.

Honestly up until commentary made a big deal out of it I had no idea it hadn't been kicked out of so I don't really think it matters much.
Though Corbin does feel like he's in this weird, awkward place where they want to treat him as a big deal but never really actually position him as one anymore.

I mean, really, how many of his wins are treated like big enough deals where you have time to register his finisher? Not really a fault of his, more of the booking, but if no one's talking about you or your finisher, it doesn't really matter if someone kicked out or not.

Yeah, that's the other thing... it's not like it was brought up literally ever that no one has kicked out of it, and it's not like he's undefeated or anything so it just kinda felt like it must have been kicked out of at some point.

Though Corbin does feel like he's in this weird, awkward place where they want to treat him as a big deal but never really actually position him as one anymore. He's in a weird spot where he isn't good enough to be a top guy but they like him too much where they aren't going to release him or demote him down the card. So therefore he just bounces from feud to feud and puts over what ever face they need him too. So he still feels kind of important in that he's always a prominent character but not that important because he never wins and is always just a filler opponent to kill time for faces.

I figured that was the entire premise of the damn feud, so McIntyre could do a thing on WrestleMania.

Honestly it says a lot about Corbin it never felt like a big deal even with no one kicking out. For example when he was in WWE ,Neville's black arrow felt like a big freaking deal even if it wasn't put over in commentary that no one kicked from it.

Losing to a genuine main eventer at WrestleMania in a singles match is probably the biggest match he'll have.

I'll at least give them that time where he stopped using it just to be a heel, but then had to resort back to using it anyway because the other Cruiserweights were tougher than he thought

Bianca's KOD, I think. I don't think anyone's kicked out of it in NXT or WWE.

I get where he's coming from. At the very least, Drew should've immediately entered the world title picture off of it. But with the way they're doing things, he has to wait six months for it.
