His return in 2020. He was coming off the Mundo run in Lucha Underground. He had amazing work during the thunder dome era and working with Bad Bunny. Should the WWE have given him a thank you run in 2020-2021 instead of giving Miz that title reign?
Give him a short run and he drops it to Lashley? During the bubble, he could've worked as a champion Drew would be chasing. Better than give Goldberg title matches at the Rumble 2021.
Even a Universal title run during the Strowman feud would've helped too.

Miz deserved a second run too after all he did the previous decade

He could've done the veteran champ in NXT thing like Balor did but in 2020-21 no way was he suitable to be world champ on the main shows.
He was the definition of midcard guy. And there's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone should be a world champion. There's already too many people who got runs who probably shouldn't have.

I'm a huge fan, but no.
It would have plain to everyone he was being patted on the head by a company that never really went all in on him, and I think WWE has done a hell of a job devaluing their titles already.

I always think the idea of "thank you" title reigns as people call them so dumb. Especially when it comes to the World Title. Being World Champion should be reserved for a select few that deserve it. Not a participation trophy that's handed out like candy. Talents like that should be awarded but not like that.

I’m a fan of his but not sure he should have been World Champ. IC or US Champ for sure.

I think he was someone who was always just that little bit better than WWE let him be solo....but he was never World Title level.
And I think if we're being honest, that wasn't 'on them' - he just isn't that sort of guy. He was a great tag guy, he was a great mid card hand, but he just never quite had the IT factor to be a top guy.

How about that Universal title? That feud with Strowman was terrible. Braun was terrible as champion during the bubble. Morrison vs. Wyatt would've been lots of fun if Miz and Morrison had to visit the Wyatt compound.

Him as world champ in 2020 would have been better than Braun's reign.

YES
It did not have to be a very long reign but he absoloutley deserved to hold either world title atleast once.

I would have loved one. I think I miss him most out of all the recent WWE releases.

I don't know about a 'thank you' run since I consider those to be essentially Cinderella stories; Kofi, Bryan, even Benoit
However, if the plan was to get the MITB briefcase off Otis and give it to someone who could win the title, only to lose it shortly thereafter to Lashley, he could have filled that role better than Miz.

He should've won it first time round and then when they brought him back, they should've used him in the main event.
AEW are using him like trash too. This guy is a superstar.

AEW are using him like trash too. This guy is a superstar. He hasn’t signed a contract with AEW, he’s only on a ‘per appearance’ deal. No point building up a wrestler if he hasn’t put pen to paper. Not to say they’ve been lacking in the ‘proper push’ for many on the roster, but there’s at least some justification on this one.

If anything I would have swapped Miz with Morrison for that brief 8 day reign last year.
Yes he would have been a transitional champion but at least he would have held it and also be a grand slam champion.

His window to be a World Champion in WWE had long since closed. He'd been made to be such a comedy character in that second run that I really don't feel like you could've made him credible enough for even a quick run.
