The musical should be based on the NES game...aka the worst movie game adaptation ever made.

"Earth Angel" and "Johnny Be Good" at the Fishes Under The Sea Dance would be perfect for a musical.

...Enchantment Under the Sea
But add in "Mr. Sandman" and a healthy dose of Huey Lewis, too. Bangin' soundtrack all around, even if it was just too darn loud.

Does the have the permission of the film makers? They own all rights and anyone who makes BTTF material has to get permission right?

Hasn't this been running in the UK for a number of years? Yup, debuted in 2020. Does the have the permission of the film makers? They own all rights and anyone who makes BTTF material has to get permission right? It's an official production, Bob Gale wrote it after trying to get the idea off the ground since the mid-'00s.

Bob Gale is clearly a creative guy...but it's like BttF completely broke him. Outside of a couple of really bad gimmicks in the mid 90's, has he done anything outside of BttF?

He writes for comics, too, but I wonder if it's less being broken and more like when someone asked Don McLean what "American Pie" meant, and he said, "Means I don't have to work another day in my life if I don't want to."

He had a short gig on Amazing Spider-Man, it was considered a pretty weak run, but he's written better stuff since then. Like Mozenrath says, I think he's just content with his one big hit. Doubly so in the fact it's the one trilogy that hasn't 'sold out' and remains pure.

I saw this in London last year, it was amazing.
I want to see it again before it leaves the West End.

Olly Dobson's been fantastic as Marty, feels spot on. He was in the ensemble of my fave musical (Bat Out Of Hell) as well, so it's lovely to see him doing so well. The musical in general is solid! There's a few tracks I'm not crazy on but for the most part it all fits perfectly, and other than the skateboard chase having to be adapted to going around the school sets rather than all of Hill Valley, it's remarkably faithful. Jennifer and Goldie Wilson both get a little more spotlight with a song each to themselves, but by and large it's the story you know. They do some astounding special effects work with the Delorean, too, to the point where I'm still not entirely sure how they got it working. {Spoiler}At the end for the usual BTTF2 setup bit with 'we don't need roads', it flies over the first few rows of the audience, turns around from front to back, and then does a slow spin horizontally with the Doc and Marty waving down at the people below. I can't tell how it's done, if it's on a hydraulic arm or something, the way it moves is really cleverly disguised.
