A Shawn Spears out of Preston Vance. One of my favorite ppvs of all time possibly. One match ended meh-ly but that one's finish couldn't be helped. The ending was eh but nothing about it affected the score at all. OC/Osprey was a gem of a match, as was Claudio/ZSJ. Sting got to be a mad man again and FTR proves to be the best tag team of all time imo. Could have used another big win for NJPW, but Osprey and White winning still felt like big enough wins that NJPW didn't feel lesser in any way. I truly believe Ishii was going to win the All Atlantic title, and when New Japan decided to have Connors take his place they decided to go with Pac. But add in Shingo getting the pin rather than Sting or Darby and that's the other compromise. That's my guess as well, Ishii was supposed to win to get the whole "the title can be defended outside of AEW" deal over but they called an audible when he dropped out.

I’d give it a 10. Ending was very amateur but besides that, no complaints at all. Not much you can do with the match before it if the guy has to take the pin and is clearly knocked out or can’t continue.

Yeah, as good as Connors looked tonight, definitely wasn't someone I'd put the title on for the first time. Though I will say they really put Connors over big in that and the crowd got behind him incredibly.

A 9/10:
The opener was ridiculously fun. And it made Shooter look awesome in defeat. Also Kingston vs. Suzuki singles match in the future please.
The Tag Title Match was great. They worked people hard with the Dax injury spot. FTR are on an all-time great run this year.
PAC winning the All-Atlantic Title was the right call. And they got the fans really into Clark Connors by the end.
Sting is a mad man. He’s 62, and moves better than he did ten years ago.
Rosa vs. Toni was good. I cannot help but feel like Toni should have won however. She just has a lot more momentum and looked more impressive right now and this is the second big match she’s lost recently. Hopefully she does not fall onto Dark/Elevation like other women have.
Ospreay probing why he’s one of the best. And OC showing once again what a great wrestler he really is.
Claudio!!
The IWGP Title match was awesome. Except for the finish, but that could not be helped. I hope Cole is not hurt too bad.
The ME was good. The crowd really got behind Tanahashi by the end. The finish felt a bit abrupt imo though.
I probably would not have ended this particular show the way they did, but that’s a minor thing.
Overall, really fun show.

Not a huge fan of the ending and it sucked that Cole got hurt but overall I really, really, really enjoyed the show so I'll give it a 10 out of 10. Will definitely rewatch it in future.

The first hour and a half were unwatchable because of B/R. And the last two matches B/R took a shit too so I'll get around to it tomorrow

7 out of 10. Leaning towards 8 but both main events came up really flat and I hated the ending. Especially it ending like an episode of dynamite instead of a championship situation. Punk not showing up in front of a Chicago crowd is perplexing as well. Oc VS ospreay was better than I had given them any hope to be and I loved Pac and Claudio. The crowd was amazing and I really wanted to love the show but it started taking in water. None of the rules were enforced especially in tags and it drove me crazy enough to notice. Either way they went full force and I hope it helps as I don't think it helped Njpw tremendously

I’ve said since AEW’s birth that DoN 2019 has always been my standard for their shows. It felt like an intention was set and enough was on there to showcase the new company and its roster.
This might be the show that makes me change my mind because it’s getting a 10.
Like, after the buzz has gone down, I do wish the IWGP title match ended an inch bit better, the women’s title match had an inch more time and obviously every change we lost in the first place didn’t have to happen but at the same time, I can’t look at any match on that show and didn’t at least go “That match was fun”. It really felt like they heard the buzz and realize they had to put on some bangers and bangers they did.
Put Forbidden Door 2 next year at the end or the middle of July, prep more stuff in advance and do more building of people and you’ll have a really sweet tradition on your hands.

8 - Was so much better than my expectations. Tag Championship match and ZSJ vs Claudio were the stand outs for me.

10.
For every injury and obstacle they had to deal with, we still got what was easily the best PPV in recent times.

A 4.
Moxley sucks.
OC sucks, and I'll never get the gimmick, but I'll admit this was a good match. Osprey continues to amaze me every time I watch him.
The 4 way IWGP match was fun, crowd LOVED Okada. Ending was flat. But I get it.
The rest of the matches had that same "epic to be epic" problem that alot of AEW matches run into.
Cesaro debuting was the best part of the night.

Yes what a terrible thing, amazing wrestling and epic matches the entire night In all seriousness, idk what you were watching with that take, a lot of these matches had story arcs in them and told them very well top to bottom. I didn't feel like I was just watching "wrestling moves" or "Epic to be epic", I was watching a ton of amazing characters and match arcs, that's what wrestling should be, and it's was no issue tonight that I saw personally. You want them to be epic, and fun, and awesome, you want to enjoy the show and want to feel your money was well spent, and set the stage for potential future shows. I also get you just liked him as Dean Ambrose in the WWE I guess, but the dude just won a title and you continue to just rag on him. Watch his media scrum tonight, dude's f***ing awesome, can't relate I guess.

I just have different things I like. I enjoy AEW for the most part. But Mox is just not one of those things. I love PAC, glad he got a title. FTR are the best tag team in wrestling. I just don't like the "epic" matches. Not every match needs to strive for the 6 stars from Dave. Give me a card that builds and builds with a good opener, a mod card show stealer and a bad ass main event. I think this card tried, but it didn't succeed, IMO.

For me it's the complete opposite, if you see my comment in the "Best match of the night" thread, the last four matches were five stars, five stars, four stars, four and a half stars, the fives being OC/Ospreay and Claudio/ZSJ The other matches didn't feel to me like they were begging to be five star classics, they were fun, they were in some ways unique, and they weren't begging Meltzer for star ratings The top of the card however? They had to put on the spectacle, they were the biggest crossover matches, and they had to set the bar for the shows going forward. Though outside of not feeling Moxley, it seems the show succeeded in that for you, so fair enough. But I do think the show paced itself exceptionally well, and AEW's had some instances where they can feel like they tire some people out with card pacing. As you said the beauty of opinions, I'm just giving my perspective too.

If I had to pick one major thing to criticize about modern wrestling in general, AEW & WWE especially, its that cards are too stacked and too long nowadays. By the time the main event comes its like, "Damn, this shit's not over".

Solid 8, too many annoyances to rate it higher, gets an extra point for Claudio. Good show overall though.

9. Excellent. I will probably never be fully on board with the whole forbidden door stuff but you had some of the best wrestlers in the world on the show and they could deliver an easy 7 with their eyes closed
People looked good and I feel the right decisions were made.

I walked through it. I thought it would take me to an ultimate parallel universe with an infinite amount of free pizza, but it just led me to some creepy naked guy’s backyard.
