I'm giving that a solid 5.
Too many multi man matches for my taste. And most of these New Japan guys have zero character beyond "Look tough. chop/slap each other and scream"
I guess I'm in the minority but I'd much rather watch MJF vs Punk than some supposed "5 star match" with zero psychology.
I'm seeing Cassidy vs Osprey get 5 star MOTY shouts? Come on man. That's an insult to the likes of Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. 5 star matches should have psychology. This one was just a spot fest and a bunch of stuff that made no sense like most of OC's moveset.
I'm glad some people enjoyed it but this will never be what I look for in my wrestling.

The Meltzer rating is his opinion and if people give it their own five star ratings who cares man? Thats what they look for in wrestling.

I'm giving it a 10/10 really the only part that pissed me off was the ending. OC vs Ospreay was best match of the show by far. While the two main events ended abruptly I felt before they really got going IMO.
Best Match: Ospreay vs OC
Worst Moment: The ending segment

That match is basically 55 minutes of a snore fest and they get it up for about 7 minutes...

Was gonna go 6, but I'll be generous and go 7/10 for the wrestling. I'll try not to be a debbie downer, but I had an issue with every single match in some way. But for the most part the wrestling delivered.
3/10 for TK showing why sometimes I can't stand him as a booker. Also that ending was insulting.
Ospreay vs. OC was not 5 stars. But it was the match of the night. Between this and the Cody HIAC it's getting a bit ridiculous. I get (and respect) opinions, but c'mon that match was working around OC (like everyone has to) until he turns it on and the last 5 minutes or so were fantastic.

My only other issue with the show was J.R. Everything on commentary was gelling well with Taz, Excalibur, Kevin Kelly, and the guest appearances from Tony Schiavone and Caprice Coleman.
The moment J.R. took the headset the whole thing just plummeted deep beneath the earth. Capped off by him whining that the ref was not doing something about Gedo stopping Hangman from hitting the buckshot. It’s a fatal 4-way. There’s no disqualifications. Shut your mouth, already.

I need to rewatch the last 3-4 matches cause I got distracted watching the end of the Stanley Cup Finals.

High 8, probably my favorite event of the year so far. The flat endings to the two main matches brought it down a bit, but just a fun night of wrestling.

I personally find that match has no rewatch value. Look I'm not gonna totally shit on the New Japan guys. There's some that have star quality like Tanahashi and Okada for example. They have crossover appeal and I could see a casual fan being intrigued by their charisma and how they carry themselves. But I'm not seeing anything special in the likes of Suzuki, Kojima, Shibata, Shingo etc. All I hear is how amazing they are in the ring... Nope. Haven't seen it. All their matches in AEW have been snorefests. Is it possible these guys have a "reputation" for being great when in actual reality, they're nothing special?

Is it possible these guys have a "reputation" for being great when in actual reality, they're nothing special? My dude, you're absolutely allowed to dislike certain matches or certain wrestlers but please, please, please refrain from this "the emperor has no clothes" bullshit when it comes to subjective opinion. Anyway, going with a 9/10. The endings to Rosa vs Toni and the IWGP 4-way were both very abrupt IMO (though the latter at least has an unfortunate reason), and the main event post-match angle felt like something better served on Dynamite. I also don't like Claudio's theme at all. Beyond that I thought it was a great night of rasslin.

Easy 10/10 from me: Every match was awesome, the wrestlers from both companies got to look like a million dollars (or a billion Yen.) and the King of Swing is back on the big stage where he belongs. Goes to show ya that some times triumph over adversity can and will happen in this crazy world of ours.
The only negative for me was I had to work late and missed the live airing, but thankfully I was able to watch the replay on B/R with little or none of the issues they tend to have with their live streams.

10.
While the shwo didnt have a lot of ambitious crossover storylines, all matches were amazing with great in-ring story ,crowd was hot AF even by AEW standards.
And overall it delivered into giving the feel of matches that are rare matchups.Which a crossover PPV should do.
Also I actually never watched and Ospreay match but yeh it was freaking good.
I dont reaslly care for FTR to give then all the moonies and titles but it also doesnt bother me, the match kicked ass.
Still I would preferred Tanahashi wwon but I know that was very unlikely.

A 10. Best ppv of the year so far for me.
Loved the opening 6 man and seeing Shooter again.
The triple threat tag was great. I freaking love babyface FTR. So happy they're now triple champs.
I didn't think PAC would win the belt but I am happy he did. Great match and shoutout to Clark Connors for really getting himself over here.
I thought the women's match was very good but I would have put the belt on Toni.
Dudes with Attitudes vs Bullet Club was a ton of fun. Sting is a goddamn madman lmao.
Orange Cassidy vs Will Ospreay was easily match of the night. Holy shit they killed it. Cassidy as usual delivers in big matches.
I lost my shit when Shibata came out. What a moment.
Zack vs Claudio was great. That pop Claudio man, goddamn. Love that he's using the Ricola bomb as his finisher again.
4 way title match was great. I won't hold the finish against it because if Cole is hurt you can't do much.
Loved the main event too and was even rooting for Tana by the end
Wasn't the biggest fan of how they ended the show but the rest of it was so damn good that it's whatever.
So yeah overall an incredible show. Even the preshow was fun

MOXWINSLOL All I'm gonna say is, Gedo also booked this show. Gedo approved everything that happened and had veto power and Tony said as such So I mean if you didn't like how some things were booked, fair enough, but there were a lot of hands in this cookie jar, and if Gedo found the ending insulting in some way, I think something would have happened. I also just don't agree that the match "Worked around OC", he brought it just as hard as Ospreay did for me, and showed why he's one of the best when he's put in these situations.

Very good show. Given with all the last min replacements getting to the show. They did a great job replacing and ext. All the matches where good. I wouldn't say its a 10 because there was a lot of multi person matches for my likely. I get trying to get as many people on the card as possible. But got to much IMO unless it was a survivor series back in the day, it wasn't needed. The ending also brought it down as well.

Finally finished, Tanahashi at 50% is still masterclass. 8/10.

I gave it a 9/10
The whole show was just a blast and tons of fun. There was never going to be any major developments or storyline implications from a PPV like this so all I wanted was a fun time and it delivered.
I thought Ospreay vs. OC was excellent. Their personalities and characters work together so well and I think it was one of the best examples of what Cassidy's gimmick is. He's not lazy or bad in the ring - he just does his stuff to wind up his opponents and Ospreay played his role in that excellently. The lazy kicks to the head followed by the proper kicks to the head were perfect.
Tanahashi showed why he's such a good babyface as well. Guy takes a sympathetic beating like nobody else in wrestling.
I would have liked to see more from Okada, but as it was a four way and the ending didn't go to plan I'll let that one slide. If there's a second show and we don't get a big Okada match though, I'll be annoyed.
