I didn't know who Bischoff was when he debuted. I thought he was fantastic in his role. Great of the mic, an absolutely great heel. TNA Bischoff sucked and modern Bischoff is another gimmick podcaster, but he was great then

Bischoff was the quintessential heel authority figure, and he's the only person I can think of who has played that role where it didn't feel like a cartoony imitation or just an exhausted trope.

Complete success. Played a self serving corporate slimeball in a way completely different than Vince did while Vince was still around. That's incredibly challenging.

I think it helps that Bischoff kind of innovated this type of character in the first place in WCW before Vince was even doing it.

I think another factor in him succeeding as a heel is that it never felt like he outright won anything, plus he was not in a position where he couldn't lose his job. It was always a case of out the pan but into the fire.
I also concur on the Taboo Tuesday head shaving...I would have liked if he stuck to that tweener role longer. He had that attitude of being sick and tired of being a patsy and I think the beard and the leather jacket helped. It would have been nice if they stuck to this longer.

The best heel authority figure in the past 20 years of WWE television.

He came back and was better than ever. Also taught us the valuable lesson that all precious things in life can be gone in 3 minutes. Did you say..... 3 minutes! Legitimately one of the best and most shocking swerves ever. Too bad the follow-up was the drizzling shits.

It worked because I hated his guts and wanted to see him gone the entire time.
So, was it a success? f*** no.

So much existential revenge from Vince.
