Brandon Thurston estimates that Forbidden Door sold about 127,000 PPV buys between AEW's usual carriers and NJPW World.

Considering how many people didn't seem to want to buy the first Forbidden Door, that's very impressive
If they get everyone healthy for the second one which I assume happens, that number will only go higher off of how well received this was.

With numbers like that, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it ends up becoming an annual thing.

I don't know why people even bought it.
It didn't even have any door ,I was promised you door and got at best two holes in the wall.
At least next year get a gate or something

That's more than what DoN 2019 got, which is crazy to me.
And All In was what, 50, 000 buys? It crazy that FD seems to have done about 2.5 times that less than 4 years later.
Just highlights the rise in popularity in 'niche' wrestling shows the last few years

That's a great number for what was considered a niche event. IIRC, Tony Khan said they expected to do about 60-80k. So they more than doubled their lower end estimate.

Am proud to be one of those 127,000. That show was amazing.

Really pleased at that as expected it to do a much lower number.
When you consider that is more than double the highest ever ppv buy rate TNA got (Genesis 2006 with Angle v Joe) it really puts into context how well it has done.
I was critical of the build going in, but the show definitely delivered. Hopefully the beginning of even better things to come with this partnership.

I thought 100,000 would be an ambitious number for a niche show but that's an amazing result. Clearly there's a lot of crossover AEW/NJPW fans. I would imagine all of those 127,000 fans (me included) enjoyed the show, too.

Build didn't hook me so I skipped but it sounds like plenty others were invested enough so it's good to see the company doing well!

Good number. Between the buys and the gate in Chicago, it sounds like it was a bit of a money maker for AEW.

I forget where someone was like mega dead certain this show was dead on arrival and nobody would care and it'd be the lowest selling and a bomb, but. Cool that it wasn't, the show was really good.
