Home to one of the biggest WWE matches to ever happen in Canada with one of its most raucous crowds ever.

One of the all time bell to bell great PPVs. That main event, Vader/Taker, TAKA/Sasuke, Foley/HHH, not a weak link in the entire show.

Taker's original opponent was supposed to Ahmed but that would have been a stinker.
This event, specifically the main event is why I wish wrestling had a series finale. Everything was so perfect for the Hart family at the end of the event. In less than two years Owen and Brian would be dead and in less than 5 Davey would be gone too. And many more family issues came about because of wrestling. But for that one night and those moments at the end of the show, everything was perfect. Everything came together like an amazing planned series finale. But no one could have written a better ending this night, same for Wrestlemania X with Bret being embraced by his co-workers.

Literally Pillman would be dead three months later.

Definitely the best of the 2 hour IN YOUR HOUSE ppvs. Every match is good, and the main event, while a bit over booked, is classic WWF/E story telling.

Whenever this PPV is brought up, it's always the main event that is talked about. It's interesting to hear about the other matches for once. What made Vader / Taker so good? And I had no idea Mankind and Triple H had wrestled on a PPV before Summer Slam.

The first PPV I ever saw. It's no wonder I fell in love with wrestling in '97.

And I had no idea Mankind and Triple H had wrestled on a PPV before Summer Slam. They had 3 PPV matches that year. KOTR in the finals, Canadian Stampede, and Summerslam. Plus they had the falls count anywhere in MSG on raw. A good feud, that's kinda forgotten because of the one in 2000.

I loved everything about this ppv. Looking back on it is sort of a somber experience though when you realize that Bret, Austin, Goldust, and Shamrock are the only ones still alive (Although to be fair, Goldust is still wrestling pretty consistently). The Hart Foundation was awesome, the face team was awesome, just the whole match was great, then the crowd reaction was unreal at the end. It was a time when the WWF made the right call on main event finishes and actually sent the crowd home happy.

Damn, I was really into the WWF at that time, and I only remember the Summer Slam match. And that match, probably because it was a big match for Foley and he wrote about it and referenced it throughout the years.

The trifecta of Chyna, the Foley feud showing he could do more than just wrestling boringly and of course the formation of DX gave Triple H a huge new lease on his career.

The Hart Foundation was a team and a family but each guy deserved to be recognized in their own entrance. I also love the Team Canada entrance at Survivor Series 97. Furnas and Lafon are pretty out of place there but just being on the team and coming out to the theme makes them look like huge stars in Canada.

Easily, one of my top five WWF ppvs. The main event became a moment, much like the Hell in the Cell main event later that same year.

The only time Bret's story has ever changed....when all the Harts are in the ring, either Bret sees a boy he doesn't know and the boy says he just told secruity he was a Hart or it was his daughter's boyfriend he didn't recognize, either way, Bret told the boy to enjoy himself.

Fantastic card. Definitely quality over quantity. Proof that not everyone needs to be on the card in filler matches to make it a 'big' event. Just a handful of well booked matches will do!
