That's terrible. When I'd heard he died at 60, my first instinct was thinking it was from overworking causing health problems, like Tezuka and Miura, but not a freak accident like this. I really feel for his loved ones, this has to be a total blindside.

Yeah, that sucks. His involvement in the franchise seem to be minimal these days (last year, they took his name off the cards after being on the bottom for pretty much the entire time since the card game started) but he kickstarted an absolute juggernaut and his death is a tragedy considering how events might have unfolded.
Rest in peace Takahashi-san.

Yeah, this one really sucks to hear, especially since it sounds like a freak accident. RIP, Takahashi-san, and thank you for creating something that I've recently rediscovered my interest in.

I loved the original series/manga as a college nerd in the 2000s. Never got into the games, I was there for the story, and it sucks we won't get more original cast/premise reunion stories with his involvement. Drowning's one of my biggest fears too.

I won’t sugarcoat it, I’m not handling this news well at all. Normally I can roll with the punches of the news of the passing of the creator of something I liked, but this is different. Extremely different. Yu-Gi-Oh! was such an all-encompassing dominating presence in my life in the early 2000s. I was extremely shy as a kid(I still am shy nowadays but was extremely so back then). Yu-Gi-Oh! was how I broke out of my shell and made my closest friends in middle school. We would even call each other over the phone and duel each other, and naturally we spent all our free time at school dueling.
I literally still own the first Duel Disk toy released in the States back in 2003 by Mattel. I vividly remember how hard and how much I needed to beg and plead with my mom and grandma to get them to drive me around town to all the Toys R Us locations to track it down(mainly because it was flying off shelves). For God’s sake I even own the physical Dungeon Dice Monsters game. I was in deep. The only franchises that learning of the passing of the creator would devastate me more would be Dragon Ball and Pokemon.

While I was never a player of the actual game, I always enjoyed the Yu-Gi-Oh anime, both the original and fan dubbing. RIP.

Yu-Gi-Oh was a major staple of my teenage years. Hell, I still collect cards to this day.

It might've been a shark attack, haven't seen clarification on that yet. Jesus, poor guy.
Mai and Jonounchi remain on my list of favorite anime characters/ships. RIP.

I haven't touched the card game in 15 years, but this sucks! I just reread the manga a few months ago.
