Watching Total Recall again. There are a lot of folks, including the director IIRC, that claim the entire film is in his head. Doesnt work though as after he freaks out in the chair and is unconscious there is an entire scene of the doctors and staff reacting to his freak out.

Although I’m not sure if the red pill guy in the middle of the film was sincere in his offer to Doug or not.

from what I remember there is similar sounds as the end credits start to roll. (that said, it was last year I last watched it and may have added the noises in sub-consciously as I was listening for them .), the staff freak out is possibly him hearing them freaking out as his brain is turned to jelly.

I was always kinda sad we never got a follow up of him waking up and having to go back to his old life while dealing with the PTSD of having very realistic but fake memories of his loving wife and close friends trying to kill him.

I really like the original with Arnold
I think it's all a dream because that one guy sweats heavily when asking Arnold to do something that would bring him back to reality

It's the "blue sky on Mars" comment which turns out what happens at the end that makes me feel the movie is all a part of Dough's recall experience. And as mentioned before, I'm not sure if the offer made to him was real (cause he really was getting labotomised) or part of the experience.

But whose to say that the staff freaking out wasn't part of the story in his implantation? Because he was unconscious for it. Recall is planting memories of an adventure. He cant remember something he wasnt present or conscious for. If they were planting a tv show or movie in his head instead of him physically watching it fine. But this was supposed to be an adventure as he experienced it. So really every scene that he was not in shows that it was happening for real. If they really wanted to play up the idea that it could all be a dream they should have cut any scene that Arnold was not in.

I like how Cohaagan was considerate enough to give his friend Hauser a nice apartment and Sharon Stone as his wife.

I like how Cohaagan was considerate enough to give his friend Hauser a nice apartment and Sharon Stone as his wife. Who is also Richter's girlfriend. Between that and Cohaagan having so little faith that he knows Richter won't manage to kill Hauser/Quaid before he finishes his assignment I wonder why Richter even still works for the guy.

Although sometimes you can have dreams where you're not in it.
